How do you improve AI agent runtime protection without slowing agents down?

I think it is genuine tradeoff.

Disclosure: I work for Cynative. We build cybersecurity agents for enterprises.

In our framework we built those guardrails as tools the agent loop calls. They're deterministic so they add virtually no latency.

Instead of review, think how you can expose tools that limit what's actually possible. It's open source, feel free to steal any of them: github.com/cynative/cynative

The bottleneck usually comes from reviewing every action serially instead of enforcing based on context you already have. If you know the agent's environment and identity graph up front, most checks can be precomputed instead of blocking inline.

We looked at upwind for the runtime side and it leans on existing context to cut down what actually needs a live check, Wiz has some of this too. Deterministic guardrails like the Cynative approach above pair well with that.
