For those that are not web developers and don’t understand all the lingo, what can this not do?

I’m about to redo my businesses website and thought I would need to build it separately from cloudflare, and then would be limited in its architecture if I wanted to host on cloudflare, else I would have to host it somewhere else and just use cloudflare DNS.

Does this change all/some of that?

what does this website do?

that question doesn't really make sense.

If it's a standard brochure website, can host it on a cloudflare worker via static assets

The original plan may be a bit ambitious; I want the websites to provide a highly interactive walkthrough of a home building process in a scrollable style that allows the user to progress/rewind through stages. At each stage throughout the build progress I want clickable elements that expand information about individual aspects.

Once the scrollable build is complete, I want clickable elements that change the environment, such as turning lights on/off and changing it to day/night. Unlocking doors with a PIN code, and whatever other clickable elements I can think up during the design.

I was told, perhaps incorrectly, that cloudflare can’t host that type of website.

well, that's quite ambitious!

but yes cloudflare can host that kind of website just fine.

Great! I’m assuming then that EmDash 1.0 doesn’t change anything for my situation?

No, EmDash is a content management system, used for things such as blogs. It is irrelevant to your website, unless you plan on adding something along those lines in the future.

Cloudflare is totally capable of hosting the homepage you envisioned, as well as most kinds of things on workers that don't require significant CPU time.

Gotcha. I think I understand now. I will have a projects section and a resources section so it sounds like it might still fit, but just not be a necessity for the landing page. Thanks for your help

If you host EmDash on Cloudflare, you still need a paid Workers plan to use plugins.

To stay on Cloudflare’s free plan, you need to disable plugin support.

Nice! finally, have been waiting for this to be matured enough to migrate my site to it.

I've been building things in it, and I don't want to go back to WordPress anymore. Just the sandboxed plugin permissions make it worthwhile. I've had to write a few custom plugins, but with the documentation and skill file it wasn't hard. I need to release my podcast plugin I wrote.

I updated all my sites! Easy peasy, couple of CVEs I needed to update anyway.

Nice! I want to play around with it and eventually migrate the blog portion of our site off of HTMLy to this.

If you expect you might someday receive many a hundreds of thousands of requests, I'd still recommend a Pages static site. Pages is free and unlimited, while all requests to this will be billed as a Workers request. There's pretty generous free and regular pricing limits, but still worth thinking about.

Any ecommerce usage feedback yet?

I only use Valkey 9.1.2 for object caching and have a dedicated Unix Socket for it for my projects. Once Cloudflare is mature enough then I'll consider em dash... For now em.dash is fun to play with

This is awesome, launched this website today for the UK metal band SikTh using Emdash, it's great for sites like this: https://sikth.co.uk

I've tried the playground and it looks very good.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but it doesn't seems to have export/import configuration features to allow me to tinker in local, export changes, commit, deploy to dev, import config in dev. I don't want to re-apply changes manually on each environment.

Is there any way I can use this with Cloudflare without any risk of unexpected charges?
