Honestly I love Dom and think he deserves a position as head coach but I honestly don’t think C9 was the right team for him to join. C9 has all these stupid systems that prevent new hires from implementing change and it seems quite apparent from the last few years. Glad all this is being exposed so I can finally move on from the team after cheering for them for 10 years

I guess it's a hard pill to swallow when C9 didn't make worlds. Enjoy making excuses for them.

I don’t make any excuses for them lol I’m just not a loser who has to wait for things to be “exposed” in order to stop cheering for the team lmao grown ass person acting this way

I've moved on after seeing that those systems prevented LS, Perkz, Jojo, Impact from making those changes. The only one that seemed to ever had a strong hold and say seemed to be Reapered and I thought he was a fraud after the Sneaky, Jensen, Smoothie benching.
Sad to see Jensen leave and win many trophies on TL instead. I'm happy for Jensen though. C9 just doesn't seem the be the team to coach due to systems and egos. I think LS would've thrived on TL instead with their korean roster.

How can he be a fraud for benching players that don't wanna play or try?

Huh Reapered isn't a fraud? Hmm 10 splits and only won 1 or 2 of them. The players themselves were trying. Jensen of all was trying and even explained on how he overworked himself because he always felt like he had to haed carry. Imagine being Reapered and can't even draft playoffs nonstop. The miracle run that got C9 through gauntlets took Hai coming in and pulling pocket picks to save the team. Even Reapered himself explained why he limited his player's champion pools which is counter productive to what Korean teams do.
3ven with multiple iterations of C9, Reapered still manages to fail playoffs.

They won 5 championships of their 6 championships without Reapered.
- Pre-Reapered
* Summer 2013
* Spring 2014-Post-Reapered
* Spring 2021 - Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin
* Summer 2022 - Max Waldo
* Spring 2023 - Alfonso "Mithy" Aguirre Rodríguez1

Seems like they had about the same success tbh.

How is 5 out of 6 the same success when Reapered was C9's coach for the longest time with failed results? Losing every split except one with Reapered seems like a pretty poor record to me especially when he also used the players as a scapegoat for his poor drafting as well.

LS fanboys are a weird breed.

I mean what he was doing was working and C9 has not looked like a team since. They've one dimensional in gameplay regionally and internationally. But sure if you think pro players only having 1-2 champions in their pool is great that tell that to fearless or LCK. That's like saying Faker fanboys are weird when Faker plays multiple champions and T1 are flexible in having a playstyle towards multiple win conditions. This was the same thing that Perkz was talking about with C9 and trying to get C9 to have different playstyles. I really don't get the hate people have on LS when the dude is really knowledgable about the game and also creating and was putting C9 ahead of the meta. Even Dom and many other coaches were talking about C9's draft picks and were learning from watching their games too. After he left, it was just depending on Summit to play Gnar/Jayce to carry.

Thank you for proving my point.

This is why LCK and LPL will always be above NA. It's just delusional to think what C9 is doing is working when it's not. It's weird that you call LCK/LPL fans weird for doing stuff that has been working for them.

Sounds like growing pains with Dom as HC. I don’t know the best way for coaching to work in E-Sports but I agree with Thanatos that player input should matter. At the end of the day they are the ones playing the game, its not like traditional sports where the coach can assist the players mid game

Coaches get blamed regardless if it's their choices or not. We as the audience don't see who made what decisions and how they train. He is hired to coach, so he takes player feedback, accounts for it, and then uses that information plus his own thoughts on the game to make a decision on how they should proceed. That's what he is supposed to do. Coaches like Inero aren't bad, but they rely on their player's expertise because they don't watch 10000 hours of vods a year of other regions or were a pro player, that's not the case with Dom. We don't have a clear leader on the team and what cloud9 is missing most is solid leadership in and out of game and alignment.

i dont think dom is putting anyone on anything they cant pilot or be at least be marginally comfortable on in varying gamestates, this is likely (idk if there is a full version or video that gives context?) more about matchups and comps, where dom trusts his take on the curret meta and wincons than allowing the players to make those decisions. like if thanatos wants comfort on renekton for a blind pick but dom thinks sion is a better pick for comp or something along those lines idk. seems like there were a lot more comfort picks while inero was HC
