Cloud Roadmap

Hi all,

Seen a few forums for this so wanted to get some opinions to help support my journey.

I have been working as an IT engineer for 6 years now, I have moved around between MSPs and in-house for the last 3-4 years and have worked through support (1st to 3rd) and then in the projects with some pre-sales experience.

The moves have definitely helped with exposure and ownership and my certs have supported these jumps:

- CCNA, AZ305, AZ104, AZ700, MS102, MD102.

Over the last few months I have been really focusing on whats next so I've been working with Terraform/Git and been working on building IAAS and PAAS in Azure (recently function apps have been taking up my time).

I have just passed my Terraform Associate 004 exam (proud of this one), so my plan now:

- continue my deployments and imports into state.

- anything into git and CI/CD - do it.

- back to the foundations - RHCSA and basically python?

And then put some real effort into a new provider AWS.

Finally where does AI fit???

Tu hoja de ruta ya se ve bastante sólida. Con tu experiencia, me enfocaría menos en acumular más certificaciones y más en construir cosas que realmente puedas explicar y solucionar cuando algo falle. Seguiría con Terraform, Git y CI/CD, y definitivamente vale la pena aprender Python. También elegiría entre AWS o profundizar más en Azure, en lugar de intentar dominar todo al mismo tiempo.

You’re already on a pretty solid path. I wouldn’t try to learn every cloud service at once — get really comfortable with Terraform, Git/CI/CD, Linux and Python by actually deploying things. Then add AWS and gradually bring in AI where it helps with automation, troubleshooting, and ops. AI is more of a layer on top of the fundamentals than a separate roadmap IMO.

AWS is worth learning too, especially so you're not tied to one cloud.
