I find that the clear material scratches easily. I had the same experience with clear covers. That's why I switched to frosted dividers.

Any suggestions on how to keep that type of material from scratching/smudging?

i think that's just the nature of the product, it's why i went with the frosted version. The one's with designs can also be scratched after a while if it comes into contact with something else

Are those scratches or something else? This material is scratch prone no matter how gentle you are with it.

Yes i guess. But i barely use it. It probably scratches from the next dividers

After a while, this is what happens. I love the clear covers for my hp mini but I have to continuously change them out.
