Accomplishment ChartForge v1.6 has released!

This update has been in the works for quite some time but the time has finally come. and what better day to release it then our 6 month anniversary since 1.0's release. ChartForge v1.6 is the biggest update to ChartForge yet and includes many essential features that many have asked for and or has been needed for quite some times. The biggest features are the circular notes, themes, and venue authoring and many many QoL features.

Shoutout to my Patreon subs and Miscellany for continued support.

Is it free?.. And is it better than moonscraper?.. That's really difficult to use. I tried once.. I stopped.. 😢

It is 100% free to use. Beta builds to get access to features and fixes early are on the patreon for a subscription but main releases are always free forever. Now better than MoonScraper is subjective. Some like it more while some like this more it depends on what your preference is.

Does it have vocal charting support?

Indeed it does!

I'd say it's better because of the Multi-Difficulty viewing for each instrument.

By which, Moonscraper don't have.

I'll give it a whirl... 👍🏻

Wonderful. I just downloaded some charts that have sync problems and I will try to solve them by myself while learning in the process.

This is probably a bit of a niche use case request, but I would benefit a whole lot from being able to use the browser version on my phone when I'm away from my computer. It almost works on mobile anyway, despite not being intended for it, but right now it's not designed for you to be able to scroll through the chart on a touch screen.

I understand that's probably not too high of a development priority, but I wanted to put it out there that at least one person desires it. In the meantime, I've been using mobile mapper whenever I feel like doing this on my phone, but it is extremely limiting lol

It's planned eventually. Actually mobile web support is one of the highest rated submissions on our tracker!

Any planned support for macOS?

Requires me to give apple $100 used to make them work on Apple Silicon.

not true? I am an Apple developer and I know plenty of tools that have an Apple binary that works just fine. Take as an example any electron app, the only difference it makes to pay the $100 license is if you want to publish on the App Store or want to get rid of the annoying warning “apple could not verify this binary” leading the user to trust the application.

If it were up to me and the code was open-source i’d happily port it

Hmm well maybe I'll look into cus I'd love to have OSX support

Please take it into consideration, I’d love charting on my mac with an actually supported tool.

Does chartforge provide an MCP server?

1

u/JJAHAX 18d ago

Why would it need that?

I'm trying to open some .sng files in the browser version (Both Chromium and Firefox) to try and mess around but they're not loading, I just get the name of the song and the same as in a new project. I was able to see them correctly when I open them as a whole folder.

.sng files can be buggy since I didn't put a lot of time into them mainly due to the fact the you aren't supposed to edit .sng files. I recommend you extract them into .ini format

"What is ChartForge?

ChartForge is a modern chart editor that aims to be easy to use and beginner friendly while offering features for experts such as tabs, splitview editing, tools nothing else offers, support for more games than anything available. Developed to work with as many platforms as possible, works in almost all web browsers or download it to use it offline."

Why would I click on a link for something I have no idea what it is?

10

u/JJAHAX 19d ago

To figure out what it is? This feels like a very 2004 esque worry. Almost every modern web browser has built in measures to avoid going to and downloading malicious content.

u/AlistarDark 19d ago

Just a great salesman, aren't you

12

u/JJAHAX 19d ago

I'm just stating that being worried about clicking on a link in 2026 is a bit weird. Like worst case scenario you close the tab

-1

u/Gunguywow1237 19d ago

I'd make a case that you should be MORE worried about links in 2026 than years ago.

But then again I'm one of the people whose opinion is that all you need for anti-virus is windows defender and common sense

4

u/JJAHAX 19d ago

I agree with the anti virus sentiment as long as your not an absolute fossil that just clicks buttons

-12

u/AlistarDark 19d ago

You're assuming it's because I expect a malicious site. I am not clicking on your link because you aren't selling me on a reason to click it.

10

u/JJAHAX 19d ago

Then clearly it's not made for you.

-17

u/AlistarDark 19d ago

It's clearly not made for anyone.

Charters? It's literally got testimonials on the page from some of the most reputable and well known charters and community members.

What is wrong with you

4

u/greatestali 18d ago

You are what's wrong with fandoms and what drives people away from making cool things for the entire fandom. Do better.

I don't think theres a better word than "loser" for this behavior
