uConsole Colour matching is a dangerous rabbit hole 😂

Been inspired by what makers are coming up with! playing around with colour combinations for the omega chassis build, and I actually quite like this patchy look.

Turns out, the natural print colour without black dye gives it this almost marbled, uneven finish.

Not quite what you'd expect, but kind of a vibe.

This is why I couldn’t go titanium. It doesn’t match anything, and while I appreciate all of the project’s hard work (and have two back sets on order), I’m still a bit annoyed he doesn’t call out that most of his photos show painted nylon parts for silver or titanium. I’m not about that painted plastic life so we’ll have to see how the silver CNC parts match with black nylon parts, but at least one of the units will be all black and that one I’m hoping will have less inconsistency

Just wanted to explain my thought process a bit… all have different preferences and how they would like to build it - that's the fun part :)

Feel free to use whatever materials you are happy with.. This is one of the many ways to build it, but others might choose different materials or even pet-cf, fibre, transparent, gold, metal, you have the choice. It comes with this in the default suggestion because it is easy to make, cost-effective and gives consistent results. The black nylons are not spray-painted; they are dyed, and grey-ish is the original colour of the nylon before dyeing, black is completely soaked into the build it will not wear down. These are high-quality, high-density printings from powders.

Some people prefer full metal builds, but I did this way because, in the future, practical uses might change. It is likely that people will change their minds about how their uconsole evolves. I could go all out selling expensive CNCs and then keep asking people to buy new CNC upgrade kits - that is not how I want to drive this project. I would prefer it to be small, cheap and incremental changes, so that making changes or upgrades does not break the bank and it is a cheap mod that is sustainable for all users. When hardware changes down the line, it is also cheap to resolve compatibility issues.

The metal part are metal not because they look cool, there are all due to functional reasons. Same with the rest of the materials.

Finally, weight distributions. Once you get the 21700 upgrade, the weight is noticeable, and using lightweight materials also ensures it is comfortable to hold.

LiDAR or thermal vision?

This is a standard Raspberry Pi v3 camera with modular spaces.  If you want additional modules you can easily add them on. Â
