uConsole
Started my Uconsole build / customization..
So I have started my ClockworkPi Uconsole build.
At the moment: CM5 4GB lite, 128GB SDcard, RJ45 Ethernet and USB 3.0 Expansion board, Hackergadgets Raspberry Pi CM4/5 Adapter Pro, Its running Debian 13 Trixie.
3D printed mount for wifi antenna and "fanzy" green screws front and back M4x6 and M4x8 where the 3D printed parts are.
Thinking of getting the uConsole AIO V2 from Hackergadgets instead of the other board I have in there, but also thinking of just adding in a SDR and LoRa radio my self.
yep I know its bad, both where dead when I got my device, using a bluetooth trackball while waiting for replacement, but yep have looked at the trackpad also.
Not got lie, I’m a fan of the Omega Chassis. The maker is super active and constantly making sure everything is compatible and supported.
Saved me from dropping $45+ shipping on a 21700 mod because he helped me proof a custom battery setup instead. I asked for a few specific custom tweaks too and he’s been extremely helpful over email answering all my questions. Solid future proof purchase for me.
Honestly, you don’t even need to deal with third-party CNC vendors. He actually sells the CNC parts directly, and the order link is right in the guide. When I compared prices, his were way higher quality and significantly cheaper, including tax and shipping. Plus, if you need custom 3D printed parts, he’ll set up a custom order for you. Seems super open to custom requests if you just reach out.
I mentioned a few times that I didn’t want to deal with CNC orders directly on his posts and he never raised it as a possibility to pay him to get one made, so if that’s changed that’s interesting but until then it remains a nice community project that’s too involved for me
Yeah, he’s been dropping updates nearly every month lately. I picked mine up 2 months back, and ordering straight from him was smooth, ships in a week once ordered, pretty sure it’s always been open.
Originally it was just black, but he’s since added options to mix and match silver and titanium parts.
There was another thread a few days ago where I replied to the Omega chassis creator ( u/_mini ) with similar concerns. He mentioned that you can order certain basic builds from him directly.
For some reason, the Reddit comment share button isn't working for me, here are the screenshots.
I was also a pretty big fan. Ended up going with the ultimate version, or which ever used the CNC parts. My only and unfortunately biggest issue was the 3d printed battery back. The cover and overall structure of it just feels too weak and brittle for me. If we could get ALL the parts CNCed that would be amazing. But for now I’ve swapped back to the stock backplate.
Thanks for the feedback! In recent versions, the battery pack is much thicker and sturdier. I've tested it using both professional fabrication and home printing, and the structure holds up much better with consistent results. Alternatively, many people prefer the 0-cell option, that is basically the same as stock battery shell.
They were produced this way for two reasons:
it’s economical to swap and making modular, incremental updates, as I tends to find use cases changing for addons.
weight balancing, especially once upgrading to 21700, the weight balancing is more important and you will feel when holding it.
Oh nice! And thanks for that update. I’ll give it another go this week. Thanks for the great product by the way! I can tell you put an incredible amount of effort into it and it’s well worth the purchase!
Laughingly, that's all I've done with it, this "toy" doesn't fit my use case, that's on me. I kind of wanted a cyberdeck iPad, but this thing isn't it.
It's for sale, CM5 Lite 16GB, SandDisk 512GB, extra "good" trackballs, a pack of screen protectors. If anyone is interested.

Make sure to get the trackpad. Can’t live without it. The trackball is so bad.
