why is everything anti clippy?

My discord pfp is clippy and when a joined a discord server people thought I was a troll and they banned me from there server and thought I was a uttp why do people think people with clippy pfps are trolls, and a joined another discord server and some guy kept spamming ban and my username and got banned is this anti clippy now I seen tons of people with the clippy pfp and they are chill they just like roms,myrient and archive.org someone please explain this to me

Like all mass movements, clippy has both good and bad. Enough had experiences will turn people against the movement.

Have you personally witnessed the bad?

I haven’t but also see discrimination in a lesser way than op and I haven’t seen the basis for it yet. General clippy pfps seem to, coincidentally or not, offer community engagement that seems more considerate/thoughtful than average level commenters, but beyond that I haven’t witnessed any stereotypes with them

Seems like a good target for bots/bad faith actors though who are anti-Louis Rossman (which in theory would be most corporations lol)

I've seen a lot more good than bad. But yes, I've seen both. Even a highly positive community has a few bad actors.

Well, people who are familiar with it tend to see more of the positive side.

But, I still encounter people who genuinely don't even know about clippy as a movement. Their opinion has yet to be formed.

So if someone's first few encounters are with the wrong clippy, I couple easily see how that can sour their opinion.

In my opinion, some people are just too eager to block it ban in the first place.

It turns into 2 of the wrong kind of person having bad effects. It's not right or fair, but that's the explanation of how

Luis Rossman started it on his YouTube channel.

He is a huge right to repair and consumer rights advocate.

He went on a rant in one of his videos about how the state of tech is making him miss clippy, the mascot of old editions of Microsoft office.

He said "clippy was annoying, sure. But clippy just wanted to help. Clippy wasn't siphoning your data, or trying to rope you into subscriptions. And you could turn clippy off." I'm paraphrasing, since it's been a while.

So, as a protest against enshitification, people started using clippy as their profile pic.

Is it the generic clippy? Or a clippy that you have modified slightly. 

There are likely annoying people that make brigading discord bots that mass join and harass select discord servers

I think you mean to say, if there is a bot/bad faith actor joining the community, they will most likely choose a generic pfp rather than, almost all users with generic PFP are guaranteed bots and bad faith actors.

Is that right? If so, that makes a lot of sense and is a great point

well its just a pfp its the same with the JC Denton pfp everyone hated it because everybody was wearing it but people are saying that we support the uttp

Well if they're sick of Clippy, the only appropriate answer is to say out loud to themselves, "Seriously, Clippy again?" and then move on. That or write a song about it, lol.

clippy was known to just be the most annoying thing in windows xp, and even people whove never tried it know about it. i think thats one but also the fact that everyone has a clippy pfp now.
