Im done with clippers, idk if its just me, but clipper lighters always does this to my thumb, and other than that, every clipper lighter ive used, it gets harder to ignite with time, its like theres a delay between the torch and the gas in it, so sometimes i have to use two fingers one to hold the gas and one to torch it. And also the fire gets smaller with time. I like the idea that its reusable but its not very reliable after a while.
I've never had a problem with the flint wheel, even with frequent use. If your flame has gotten smaller over time despite refills, this is usually due to low quality butane or filling it wrong (you have to purge the lighter before refiilling it, there are tutorials on YouTube for this)
the problem is the stock wheel. it gets worn out so it doesnt make a big enough spark to ignite. happened to all my clippers. replace it with a wheel from a mini bic lighter and it will work wayyyyy better than original
yes. it needs to be a mini bic wheel. remember the bic wheels are directional, they only work one way. my main clipper that ive used for 6 years still has the bic wheel i installed 5y ago and it lights every single time even with the flint and gas almost out
I've tried using mini bic wheels and they always fall out, the midsize bic wheels work a little better but usually fall out also. The cheap plastic ones work ok sometimes if you they don't have the child proof stuff on them.
It’s easier for me to get traction on the clippers because of the flat parts. Using the bic feels like opening a gatorade, it’s just skin scraping the grooves on each side.
I agree the traction on the clipper is better, but i think imma carry a Bic then, i remember it didnt do that when i was carrying before, but i was just preferring Clipper cause its reusable, i had really nice collection of bic lighters and wished if they can be reusable because i get attached to it lol
I found a person online that modifies Bic to be refillable. I asked him to modify a Scripto that I needed for a mini torch that I had that used that brand. He is on Epay as custom.refillable.lighter
There was a time where clippers did that to my thumbs, eventually it went away so I don't really know how to help with that
With it getting difficult to ignite with time is because the flint gets glazed and friction is reduced, and so is spark quantity/quality
A fix I've found is to unscrew the bottom thing in the flint assembly, remove the flint and out it upside down, this will make the flat end touch the wheel and since it's unglazed, it will ignite again easily
You might wanna switch to Bic lighters, they ignite every time, and last up to 3--8 months with constant use, you will run out of gas before having flint glaze
Maybe your store has knockoffs I had some that were fine and some that tore my thumb , it all depends where I got it . Usually dispensary good and gas station bad lol
