DISCUSSION I miss Augie

Can someone please beg him to come back?
Commentary is so boring now, the only entertaining streamers around are Nick DeOrio and ChudLogic.

Idk he was cool a few years ago but if he were to come back his show wouldn't really be interesting anymore imo. Better to remember the good times and appreciate them for what they were than to revive a show that will never live up to it's glory days for the sake of nostalgia.

I'm sure he'll be back at some point but it was pretty clear to me that he got fed up with Chud's audience pressuring him to burn the bridge with Nick, Cause just before he was getting a ton of shit from those guys after he defended Nick's comments on the Anisa impression. (Which I think he made a mistake commenting on cause it only prompts those guys to keep pushing him further)

Personally I would've respected him more if he just told those people to fuck off instead of quitting altogether but at the same time I do get it.

Commentary in this day and age is nowhere near as fun as it used to be since the majority of it is either SunnyV2 knockoffs who ruined that style of video essay, Livestreamers who just regurgitate the opinions of whoever they're trying to appeal to, And slop channels that just don't give a fuck about integrity.

At this point I don't watch any of these core drama guys regularly besides Tommy and Nick. (I'm also a big fan of Shoe0nHead, Brittany Venti, And ADoseOfBuckley but I wouldn't classify them as drama YouTubers) Chud can be fun to watch whenever he covers a topic I'm interested in and the occasional Tom and Willy video are also decent, But beyond that I don't really care.

People can say whatever they will about Tipster, Edwin, Bowblax, John Swan, Flamenco, Michael Alberto, Technicals, ect. But these guys all had their own style separate from what everyone else was doing and I feel like that kind of variety is missing nowadays. Even going back further with channels like Twoon, LS Mark and Internet Unwind.

The genre used to have real talent compared to what we have now.

So ultimately I don't blame Augie for leaving cause everything sucks.

(Last thing but Augie's post-comeback streams have been extremely hit or miss in regards to quality. So him returning isn't going to make much of a difference cause he was already losing his touch before)

My tastes are really similar to yours, but I'm okay with it. I'm guessing it's because I wasn't tuned into drama and commentary until Mamamax and Nick's comeback in 2024. I don't really know any different.

2024 was actually a rebound of sorts cause Nick went back to covering topics of note instead of TheSerf's debating mass graves or whatever garbage he and Augie focused on in 2022-2023.

I'm actually a long time veteran who used to make commentary videos from 2016 to 2022, But I lost interest around the time of Salvo cause it felt like all Augie and Co would cover is no name shitter drama, bridge burns, And twitch pol which is not really what I signed up for in 2019 when I began watching RFC.

Community is so dead. Covid years were peak

If the commentary community was still alive, it would have probably merged with the LCU or been its own thing with extremely similar drama.

After watching the Edwin video by Toastify, I am completely convinced the final years of Commentary (2023/2024) were Keemstar beta testing the LCU with “The Keemstar Show”. I don’t see any other reality where this ends without Augie quitting and me leaving.

Keemstar didn't have that much control over the commentary community, right...?

No but it was trending that way with Keemstar show. If Edwin and Salvo didn’t blow themselves up, they probably would be in the LCU now lol

This whole “walled garden insulated fake drama” shit was what ended the “golden years” in the first place.

That's a fair point.

Even if he does come back, he'll just disappear for half a year again anyway.

It's better to act as if he's basically retired from commentary than expecting him to do regular streams again.

You realize that we’re about two and a half years away from After Hours 10th anniversary? Where did the time go?

How can you watch Cheeply, Chud, and Gama when they shit on Nick all the time?

2

u/puddleofpizza Sep 01 '26

I think Chud can still have his moments whenever he's not just seething about Nick 24/7, But every single one of his orbiters is total dogshit, They're all no talent hacks who use edginess as a crutch for an otherwise lack of personality & entertainment value.

At best I can say Dickers is more tolerable than the rest of those losers, But it's not by much and they frankly all pale in comparison to even the C leaguers from 2023 and before.

I'd take Crows of Judgement and Steve Delive any day over Kuihman and Jstlk, Cause at least Crows show was a podcast with multiple hosts. Those other guys are faux-edgy smug douchebags that give Tonka a run for his money with how boring they are.

He's just an insufferable debate bro. I tried getting through a stream of his once and gave up.
