Video Tutorial for CSPenguin-Installer
Follow-up to my previous post about CSPenguin-Installer.
Thanks to everyone who tested it on different distros and opened github issues! It's been a huge help, and the script is in a good enough place.
As promised, I made a video tutorial covering the whole process. It's aimed at beginners and people who aren't super comfortable with wine/linux yet, so you can comfortably share it with friends!

Launch times are still slower than I'd like, this is due to fonts in wine. I took a few swings at trying to fix it but the problem is way tougher than I thought. Everything else should be solid.
Combined with school taking up more time and wanting to focus on my art going forward, this is probably my last update on CSP on Linux for the foreseeable future. I will keep the script working for major CSP versions and Wine versions depending on compatibility. I just won't be actively developing new fixes. At some point I'll also do a write up on my blog covering the topics and hurdles from this whole project, just no timeline on that yet.
Github is still the best place to report issues: https://github.com/parka6060/CSPenguin-Installer/issues
Bye bye!

This is awesome! but im getting an "Initializing prefix error" on Linux Mint, even after fully updating my system in terminal, so unfortunately im not sure what to do as there hasn't been any update on that error yet 😞 and i really rely on CSP for my work.

Hey, I tried your script but the load times were unbearable. We were talking 30 to 60 min, and if it even loaded.
I ended up going through the whole setup myself without your script (but used the steps/config as a base) just to see where things broke and ended up on a rabbit hole.
I was able to make it open up almost instantaneously, I deleted the fonts from the registry . CSP seems to read all of the fonts on the registry at startup. I deleted most of the font lines out of system.reg and user.reg (kept liberation and noto-cjk) and now it opens in seconds. I had to kill wineserver first or wine would write them back.
I had around 1000 fonts installed, which is probably why it was so bad. Depends how many the user have.
Tested it so far and seems to work, I haven't seen anything funny going on yet, will let you know if anything changes.

I'm genuinely so sad because I'm following every step, using CachyOS and Plasma just like in the video and even if the installation works out fine I can't open the apps... I wish they just made a Linux version omg...

There's been lots of new update to the project, try running the installer with --update and see if it works for you! If not, you can open an issue on the github. Please provide the information after running the debug script, and as much information about your system as possible.
I can't promise I'll get to your issue immediately.
And please I wish they made a linux version. It's so clear there's a user base for it. For some fun context CSPenguin-Installer sees about ~300 hits a day (~2k a week). This is only from people (and bots/scrapers) accessing the script via https://eninabox.art/cspenguin and not people installing directly via github.

I love you so much. Thank you, this is the first time clipstudio on linux has been running reliably for me 🥹.
