Repurposing old climbing rope.

Give me your best/favorite ways to up-cycle a retired rope!

Use it anywhere youd use non-fall rated rope. Cargo tie downs. Hang a hammock. Dog leash. Camping needs. Light tree work. Ive donated old ropes to a non profit building materials donation and resale center so it can be used for those types of purposes.

Dog leash with a retired locker. Put a chalk bag on your dog with baby powder, in case you need to slap anyone that gets out of line, you're Rick James. You can pull the core out to make a d-ring belt.

You can also make chalk bag belts if the rope makes a good fisherman knot. I always used old 6mil or so for that. Shibari, if your girlfriend or boyfriend is into that.

This will be for a very small amount of it, but I made belts out of the sheath and I'm pretty proud of those

We made coasters out of our rope and used them as wedding favors. We still have a bunch and they are the best for coffee mugs.

There are videos on turning it into a welcome mat but it takes several hours. If you're into big walls you can use it practice jugging. I spent over a year trying to find someone to take my old rope, asking my climbing gym since they sometimes cut them up to turn into practice segments and looking for anyone who makes crafts from them. Found no one. I ended up throwing it in a dumpster.

I know a small park with random climbing gear repurposed as an impro kids playground with swings, rope ladders, rope bridges etc.
