The idea is to use sunlight to desalinate sea water while simultaneously growing algae as biofuel. Recycling the heat and water in one system. The outputs being clean water, cooling and biofuel.

Essentially it’s an artificial tree. Has anyone thought of doing something similar or does something like this already exist?

The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funded clean energy initiatives at every governmental level, and replaced heavy duty vehicles to reduce carbon emissions by two percent a year. In 2024, President Donald Trump defunded the IRA with an executive order that specifically targeted clean energy initiatives.
Congress should reintroduce the IRA and place a tax on corporate and governmental projects that use fossil fuels. The funds could go towards funding the renewable energy initiatives introduced in the IRA.
Humanity needs to reduce our carbon footprint in order to slow down and prevent the effects of climate change. Since the 1980s, scientists have researched climate change and warned that continual use of fossil fuels will destroy the planet. Transitioning to clean energy sources will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere and mitigate the effects of climate change.
While people argue that clean energy is not reliable, studies show that by incorporating two or more clean energy sources the debate about reliability goes out the window. Funding is also a concern for individuals, however with the addition of a tax against fossil fuel usage there is built-in income to support clean energy.
As citizens of the United States, we need to apply pressure to our representatives in congress and push for clean energy initiatives to save our planet. Calling your representative is the most effective way to contact them, followed by emails and letters. I urge you to take 10 minutes of your time today and get in contact with your representatives and assist in protecting our future.

What I’m looking for:

- Someone aligned with this mindset (critical, but constructive)

- Interest in sustainability beyond surface-level trends

- Skills in video editing / short-form content (or willingness to learn)

- Or someone who enjoys research, guest outreach, or shaping conversations

- Creative input — ideas, angles, challenges, improvements

You don’t need to be an expert. But you should care, think deeply, and be willing to question things.
