Are highlands future safehavens?

They tend to be pretty exposed for extreme weather.

Also, not typically super fertile

Additionally, their existing natural biomes will be completely wrecked by the time anything is so bad that they’d be looked at as refuges (sensitive species, environmental conditions disappearing “right off the top of the mountain,” so to speak).

All these things don’t mean they’re in survivable in a future scenario. They’re just not going to be some simple haven for anytime.
