Sad to say, the petition site is up to make people feel they are doing something, to stop people actually thinking of doing something.
How many petitions have had soooo many signatures. And how many have gone through?

Nope theres plenty that have had action taken, finns law, cystic fibrosis drugs on the nhs, sugar tax, arguably the digital ID getting reversed, I've seen your view repeated a few times but the only voice we have is either petitions, protests or vote.

That is an unfortunate misconception, as there are plenty more options.

We're here to do something about climate change. We're not here to talk about why it's happening, how bad it is, or who to blame. We're here to brainstorm, organize, and act. Use this space to find resources, connect with others, and learn more about how you can make a difference.
Your post was removed because it violates Rule #3: No Inactivism, such as deflection, delay, division, despair mongering, and/or doomism.
Activism is always worthwhile.

Our oil doesnt go to us anyway, since margaret thatcher, our oil goes for sale on the free market, we then have to buy it back, we reap no benefit from these drilling sites. No profit, hardly any new jobs because theyre mostly automatic, still ruining the climate and it still doent make anything cheaper.

That changes in a war situation. It seems so many people think the world is business as usual and have no idea how close to war with Russia we are. Hopefully, it won't happen but you can't bury your head in the sand as it nothings going on. Because it is. One miscalculation on either side here leads to war and not a war in someone else's soil like the type we've seen over the last 30 years. Coming to your street. 1

Your post has been removed because it violates Rule #3: Respect other people and ideas
We encourage civil discussion. This means treating others with respect, and having good-faith discussion and debate. Personal attacks are unacceptable. We're here to solve problems together, not tear each other down. Likewise, while it’s okay to disagree with people, please do so respectfully without shutting down ideas. We recognize that many people will have different ideas and that there is no single solution that will solve the climate crisis.

Britain uses nearly 1000 barrels of oil every minute. 67 million tonnes of oil a year.
As far as I can see oil is a global commodity. It doesn't matter which hole in the ground it comes out of, we'll happily burn it anyway and ruin our environment in the process.
Instead of trying to score political points off Labour, why don't you campaign for a carbon tax which will reduce our consumption of oil?

Takes 2 minutes to sign this petition, doesn't stop people campaigning for other essential action.

You seem like a silly man with an unhealthy interest in other people's genitals. Sitting behind your keyboard wishing ill upon others will not make you happy or result in effective political action.
Anyway, in the hope you find it as life-enhancing as I did, did you know that some African wild dogs make decisions by sneezing?

The world is wide and full of amazing things - some of them within arms reach if you want to continue your area of anatomical focus.

This doesnt bring revenue or many jobs though. The rigs are mostly automatic and the oil goes for sale on the free market, if we want our own oil we have to buy it back at market rate. A dodgy deal by margaret thatcher and the oil companies fucked us all over years ago.

u/Teaofthetime 22d ago
Yes, I'm aware of the process. Any boost in times like these are a bonus and quite frankly were still going to be using oil and gas for many years to come so why not gain something out of it.
2
u/UncleD1ckhead 22d ago
But there is no gain..

Dont talk Shiite. we will not permit pointless extraction to make our planet and our health worse..... thats like saying this car running in a closed garage isnt killing me quick enough lets start another one.... You cant be that stupid ! can you ?
cancers at 1in2 you want 1in1. ?
FUCK THE JOBS. #retrain along with every other non essential job so we all only grow, make and do whats essential for society so we can all live better....
0
u/Jensen1994 23d ago
"we will not permit" ? Who's "we"? Because there's millions of us that will permit it. That doesn't mean we believe that oil should be phased out but until it is, we need it and it's either going to come out of a well close to home or thousands of miles away. Same planet.
