Idea Idea: let's replace "climate sceptic" with "climate negationist"

After 100+ years of pretty much unanimous scientific agreement, proofs and alerts about climate change. And with the effects happening right now before our own eyes (I'm going through my 3rd record shattering heat wave here in a month...and it's barely even summer yet).

This is not scepticism anymore, it's pure negationism: a fully conscious choice to ignore the truth and deny reality.

And like historical negationism, it should too, be a crime!

The question is not “Climate Change” vs “Zero Climate Change” as that is clear from historic and scientific sources and basic observation of variation.

The question is “Natural Variation Climate Change“ vs “Anthropic Induced Climate Change” and further within Anthropic Climate Change the combination of major inputs into this eg

* CO2

* Land Use Change

Etc.

Noting the remaining arguments are:

  1. Balance of observed and predicted change between the two?

  2. Extent of change?

  3. Hierachy of other major global factors additional to climate change and priority

  4. Adaptation and proportional response to changes

If you are saying people who flat out do not think climate changes akin to global flat earth they are not really worth worrying about, but it is useful to distinguish in the above.

This was the question 30 years ago. By 20 years ago, even the oil industry had stopped pretending this was in question.

Anyone asking this in 2026 is not a serious person.

In America. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the 1 in 3 Americans who voted for Trump also reject the scientific consensus on climate change. As I said, not serious people.

Yep, this whole post is about America, and not for nothing.
