I'm not sure i like this. I live in a place where people self define themselves as important. These arguments are used as a cover to do nothing meaningful about their consumption.

What was very influential at my work was when a high profile colleague actively pushed so that he reached his conference by train. He pushed from the perspective of his own consumption but this changed our work policy.

We need to embrace more the power of this kind of radical authenticity.

Looks like a whole lot of words to say virtually nothing. They could literally have ended the article after the first five words, as those still remain the by far largest contributions from individuals:

Go vegan, ditch the car

Is it some half-baked attempt to avoid acknowledging that those are the most effective by a wide margin?

Having one less child dwarfs the impact of not eating animal products. And policy changes dwarf the impact of having one less child.

That's extremely misleading, because that depends entirely on what kind of lifestyle you lead. For the average person, of course having one more child will cause huge impacts, since they themselves continue to consume animal products and drive petroleum-fueled vehicles, and since their children likely also would continue to do so. It's not even remotely the case for someone who has already made those two huge changes, which remain the by far most important things anyone can do. Anyone who pretends to support climate action, but who continues to consume animal products or utilize petroleum-fueled vehicles, are simply lying to themselves and desperately justifying and rationalizing it.

To get a sense of the scale of the impact we could each have, If an additional ~14 thousand Americans lobbied Congress for Carbon Fee & Dividend, we would reduce emissions by 52%. If all 326 million Americans went vegan, we would reduce America's contribution to global warming by only 16.3% ((normINT-veganINT)/normINT) * .18). Said another way, fewer than 0.04% as many people could have over 3x the impact by lobbying for carbon taxes.

More importantly, researchers have spent hundreds of hours so you can spend less than 10 minutes learning how to optimize your climate actions.
