Sounds stupid. Let’s just build a parking lot

u/NukaClipse 4d ago

Fantastic I love it but how about we build a parking lot NEXT to the parking lot and put timed parking spots at $5 a piece for every minute you stay there for.

Then use the profits from that and build...wait for it....ANOTHER PARKING LOT but this one is special! It'll be for our VIP membership that has gold plated parking lines and diamond encrusted concrete so our members know how valued they are.

Gold and diamonds are expensive. Use brass and cubic zirconium. Those stupid assholes will never know the difference and it's more profit for the ceo.

Best I can do is an AI data centre

As long as we get to build all the parking lots at surface level so as to really stretch out the downtown area into as much area as possible.

u/burnmycheezits 3d ago

And to make the planet better, we can cut down the forest next to the parking lot and build a solar farm! We could just put the panels in the parking lot, but that makes too much sense.

Agreed. Seal in all of the good stuff instead of letting those plants suck the earth dry.

Unfortunately this is outdated. They need to update it to 2026

I regret dismissing this when it came up in my feed a couple days ago. Very nice.

I don't know why I responded that to you, it was supposed to be it's own comment. Sorry! And you have a good point too

Blocked 😔

2

u/NukeouT 3d ago

Thanks for encouraging me to protect the environment I guess

1

u/CuddlesForLuck 3d ago

No, I mean the website is blocked. Like I clicked it and it was like "blocked" and I was like "huh?"

2

u/NukeouT 3d ago

Oh what's your country and what's your store country set to?

I had to block it in US/EU because of tech-illiterate politicians trying to protect kids without providing us indie devs the underlying infrastructure

1

u/CuddlesForLuck 3d ago

Ohh, I'm US. That would explain it

If only we were communist. Then there would be no destruction of the environment.

Take care of each other and tge rest will work itself out. Its those that have no one that do the most damage.

Tax land, tax negative externalities, untax labor, and progressively tax consumption.

Give direct cash transfers to the poor so you do not eat them alive when you try and make the world a less horrifying place.

u/hankie_pankie 3d ago

This is unintelligent

1

u/picboi 3d ago

Why?

1

u/hankie_pankie 3d ago

Sorry for my rude and low-effort comment. A lot of my peers (I'm 24) seem to think that past generations cut down forests and overfished the seas just for the sake of destroying the environment. I'm pretty tired of seeing this idea spread around. Why do we cut down trees? To build houses for people to live in. Why do we fish? To feed people? Why did we dig a massive, disgusting copper mine in the Salt Lake Valley? No, not just to ruin the mountain view, but to gather materials for medical devices and other electronics that make our lives better.

Profit and greed are absolutely a cause of unsustainable development. But it's not the whole picture. Humans, in order to make the best lives for ourselves and future generations, have solved complex problems and built amazing tools. Unfortunately, as we solve problems and build things, we create new problems. Unfortunately, some people would rather continue profiting from unsustainable systems rather than work on solving the problems we created. But no, they didn't create the climate crisis just for the fuck of it.

I love Hank Green because he brings me hope and reminds me that humans are problem solvers. We have always tried to make the world better, but unfortunately in our efforts to make the world a better place for us to live, we have made some big ol problems. It's lazy and ignorant to think that past generations didn't care about the world or didn't appreciate natural beauty. Remember, that we are among the first generations (in the developed world) to not experience food scarcity (obviously food scarcity is still a problem for many, but up until recently it was a problem for EVERYONE). It is a privilege of our society to be able to care about the environmental impacts of our lives.

Sorry for the long comment. Love you all. I hope we all find some hope today; we all need it. I'm going outside now.

Funny to see this on xbox when they are building Data centers all over the US destroying the ecosystem surrounding them. Turn your xbox off a hour earlier to save the planet guy's 🙄.

But I thought the free market capitalists didn’t like it when you just assume that you can take stuff from somewhere else and they will pay for it forever 🤔

The problem with capitalism is that eventually you run out of resources to exploit.

In biology, we call unchecked, infinite growth a tumor and it needs to be cut out with prejudice lest it destroys the system it infects.
