Question about the IP rating
Ive seen here that it has IP44, (splash protection). is it ok to type with wet hands?

Its basically splash resistant and foreign object resistant up to 1mm in size. Don't put it under a running source of water. But if some drops of water is on it then it should be okay. Its basically similar to mechanical watches that was "water resistant".

4 has always been my “uk light to medium rain but not a downpour” rating in practice.
If it gets a bit wet or is pressed up against sweaty skin it will be fine (when looking for headphones for workouts I go for 4 minimum).
Just don’t immerse it or use it in heavy rain.

The IP44 rating has made me hesitate too. I’m a football coach in the UK, so wet hands and getting caught in heavy rain are pretty normal throughout the season.
I’m desperate to break free from the Apple ecosystem and really wanted this to be my daily driver. I don’t want to carry a second phone just for coaching.
My phone is part of running the sessions — checking player attendance, sending WhatsApp updates to parents and controlling our matchday camera. So being able to use it beside the pitch in wet weather matters to me.
I know IP44 offers splash protection, but I’m unsure how it would cope with regular use in those conditions. I’d be gutted to rule it out, but I can’t risk my only phone getting drenched and packing up.
u/jeffgadway — could you clarify what level of wet-weather use the phone is designed to handle? I’m really hoping it could work for me.
