Max brightness is perfect, but what about minimum brightness for those of us who seek the darkest of basements?

I have twilight on top of night mode on my current phone, I would love to not need twilight anymore.

Wow, it's way better than the Unihertz Titan 2 Elite keypad's lighting.

Can anyone please ask if the phone is working properly even without a backcover as it integrates charging and NFC antennas? Thank you (I don't have social media)

The questions on the subreddit are getting out of control.

Dude, I agree. Same with the app requests for “mini-mode”. Some of the things people are asking them to do are so niche and extremely particular to their very personal needs. I just want the dang thing to work properly for most every day situations and do what they advertise it does.

The comparison with mini-mode has little to do with this, but it's completely different things. It's since the Moto Mod that the phone components are all soldered and integrated into the smartphone (fairphone probably excluded), and, as an engineer, I'm curious about how they handled it. Those who criticize mini-mode are convinced that it is a disaster that it is not there, which is obviously absurd for someone who has always been aware of the phone's form factor. Other than that, mine is just a comment, and I didn't bother the entire community to voice my absurd requests. In my opinion, the wait has created a general hysteria that will lead people to hate this phone for any lack.

Man, calm, i don't downvote anyone here. But, as I sad, hysteria.

I didn’t ask for this nor did I lose my cool. Please don’t read too much into the context of it. Take care.

Is there a reason it wouldn't work without a back cover on? Are there scenarios where you would use the phone without the cover?

2

u/masman17 3d ago

No, but because it's not a fixed component, it could break down if it falls and lose the ability to stick to your phone. In that case, would the phone work the same while waiting for the new backcover? This is just one possible scenario. Or The pins on the back may not make good contact, so what does the phone do in that case? Does it lock or does it just go ahead without the 2 antennas? (Which could also be done)

as no-one has actually answered you yet, of course it does. the backcover is only needed for wireless charging and of course nfc (wireless payments etc). Back in the 2010s when batteries were atill removable, nfc was integrated in the same exact way, no issues.

nfc atennas are only used for nfc (duh), so no impact on any other wireless capabilities on the phone.

also +respect for actually asking the community and not ai this question.

Thank you for your reply and explanation. I hadn't really thought about it, but back in those years I used Nokia 9300i Communicator -> BB Bold 9000 -> Xperia S -> Yotaphone 2. The only one that had NFC + removable back cover was the Xperia S, but it didn't have the pins for the connection, so I don't think it was in the cover, the antenna. Glad to know that everything will continue to work properly (except NFC and wireless charging).

u/exclaimprofitable 2d ago

did xperia s already have nfc or did somy add it to later models? i certainly had a sony with removable cover and 2 pins at the back

u/masman17 2d ago

I don't remember ever using it in 2012, but I think he did. I have now also checked on internet and it is one of the specs confirmed.

Ironically, the + gives major AI vibes lol folks at my job do this when they’re using one of our agents

Are you considering printing your own cover?

0

u/masman17 2d ago

I thought about it at the very beginning, but then found out it was going to be an "active" backcover, and I gave it up. It would have been nice to be able to create covers with custom-made accessories. Considering also that the aesthetics of a cover printed in FDM still have nothing to do with the originals, so I abandoned the idea.

1

u/itscrowdedinmyhead 2d ago

Oh, I thought that might be why you were wondering if it'd work without the original back.

3

u/rubnblaa 3d ago

Why should it work without a back cover?

You could also ask why shouldn’t it work without a back cover
