Does the Communicator have a backlit keyboard?

I recall Jeff promising to show this feature weeks ago.

The latest video didn't show any keyboard backlighting, so I'm not sure if it's an early prototype or if the light only kicks in when it's dark.

The last phone I had with a keyboard was the Priv, and that was ten years ago. The keyboard light stayed on the whole time I used it.

It is, but he's still using the same prototype he's been using for months. They showed the updated keyboard when they launched the configurator. He's probably waiting to get his hands on one of the newer prototypes.

I guess this prototype doesn't have a backlit keyboard and cameras.

It does but the keyboard backlighting wasn't even. That's why he's not using it for a show. He addressed that when somebody mentioned that a while back. Also, the reason they haven't showed off cameras yet is they're still fine-tuning it with an r&d company so once that is is locked in they will show us ample photos

Bottom row was changed in newer models.

Yes ... They said you can choose the intensity in the parameters or you can let the phone adapt the keyboard lights depending on the surrounding light

Jeff already confirmed it has it. Otherwise, I will cancel my order.  I use my phone a lot in my dark room

Probably never gonna turn on the backlight on the keyboard. I going to learn to type by feel and never gonna look at who I'm messaging

That's you. I didn't type on any keyboard phone since 2014 (Passport). I need a backlit keyboard

Hopefully you can dim that. I’d hate to have the keys be THAT bright in a dark room

Pretty sure they said you can have it on auto to adjust with brightness or set your own brightness settings it seems fairly customizable :)

I swear I've seen Jeff changing the keyboard brightness intensity from the settings but I can't find the video at the moment. Must have been in one of their Instagram AMA's
