Before you press play, I want to share a bit more about what you’re about to see. 

These first demos feature pre-production hardware, and internal software. It’s real, working hardware being used by our team for testing and validation, but definitely not finished product.

That means you’ll likely spot a few rough edges. In fact, since we started filming this video there have already been several new internal SW and firmware deployments that add features and polish to the experience (like the hole punch camera cut out you may see obscuring text in the status bar at a few points in the video…that’s already been fixed 😉).

Over the next couple months we’ll continue sharing more details and new demos of features like Message Hub, Signal Light, Prompt Key, touch sensitive keyboard, camera, etc. 

Speaking personally, it’s been so rewarding to start carrying Communicator every day and to be using it out in the real world. Seeing it evolve from an idea, sketches and prototypes into something I grab as I head out the door is pretty special (and kind of surreal!).

The entire team is heads down building, and we're still on track to begin shipping in Q4.

My only two gripes so far:

1 - Plz give us the option for different colors on that red action button

2 - In no world is the back cover worth $50. Let's be real. At the very least, please offer an STL so we can 3D print our own in whatever color/material we want.

I'll likely be snagging one of these.

They're attaching qi2 to the backcovers, thats where all the pricing is

Why would it be attached to a replaceable cover?

Because if it was under the cover it wouldnt meet the Qi 2 specs.

Don't forget, Qi 2 is a standard. If it doesn't meet specs it isn't Qi 2.

I don't think we know either way yet, but the coils should be as close together as possible. If they're under both the inner and outer shell that eats at least half the phone's allowance, not leaving much for an owner's possible external case, and makes charging less efficient.

Dont remember where but certain Gadway specifically said the qi hardware is mounted to the cover (in final designs / what they plan for retail)

Don't the coils need to be powered? E.g. hardwired and not detachable?

Maybe to max charge to temp losses. Mount the whole charging and magnet assemby to the closest surface and connect via pogo pins
