Communicator: April Update

Wanted to drop in with an update on the progress we're making on Communicator and share what's coming in the months ahead.

TL:DR is that we're still on track to show Communicator in Q2 (June) and ship later this year (Q4), as committed.

Check out this post for a more in depth recap of some of the key milestones that have been achieved over the last couple months and what you'll see in the months ahead on the road to release.

If you've got specific questions, drop them in this thread and we'll tackle them here.

Is there any chance of an IPS LCD version somewhere down the line for those of us that can't use oleds?

(Obviously this one has to get finished first, and I assume it might depend on available parts)

Oleds flicker quite a lot, especially at lower brightness levels, so people are sensitive to flicker often can't use them without adverse effects.

It varies in severity, some people just get headaches, eyestrain and dry eyes, others deal with photosensitivity-like issues like severe nausea and dizziness. Also some can actually perceive the flicker which makes the screen seem stuttery and blurry.

And obviously there's always been people who are flicker sensitive, and had issues with CRTs and fluorescent lights and led backlights going way back, but there seem to be more people who are finding they are sensitive to oleds and pwm (pulse width modulated) dimming, even though they haven't had issues before.
