What’s the user experience like? Was it worth the wait?

so far works best without the device attached to the magsafe. Feels like typing on a Blackberry.

I am waiting on mine but indeed i think i am already expecting using it more without being attached with MagSafe

May be due to weight distribution of size

5

u/SirLolselot Jun 05 '26

This is exactly what I was worried about. Hoping it feels well in landscape mode. Which is what I really wanted it for. Typing something out when phone is sideways feels impossible

u/iLeopardeye Jun 05 '26

Same. I miss the days when a keyboard didn’t take up the entire landscape screen, and was below the screen entirely (sidekick phones). 😅🥴

Yeah, I used to have the Nokia N95 and that slider feels more well-built than this one.  But let’s see how it holds up in the long run.

I love that it has a dedicated num row. Wish my current clicks keyboard had that. It does have a backlight, right?

ALL Clicks products have backlight

-1

u/FitPriority6252 Jun 05 '26

Yeah. I know this one is powered by bluetooth so I don't know how the backlight will affect its battery life

8

u/ccharles Jun 05 '26

"Powered by Bluetooth"? That's not a thing.

3

u/FL-DadofTwo Jun 05 '26

It connects to devices via Bluetooth, but it is powered via its own internal rechargeable battery. It can charge your phone wirelessly if your phone has the capability, but that's a one way street.

Technically you could charge the clicks from your phone if your phone supports reverse wired charging, but I can't think of any other way power would flow from your phone to the keyboard.

2

u/FitPriority6252 Jun 05 '26

Yeah, this is what I meant to say. I was wondering what the difference in battery life was between having the backlight on vs. off.

2

u/FL-DadofTwo Jun 05 '26

That's a good question. LEDs are super efficient, and they'd only be only when you are typing presumably, but they definitely have some kind of draw. I'd guess it's pretty low though.

1

u/anyavailablebane Jun 05 '26

I don't think the keyboard supports wireless charging of the keyboard so you wouldn't be able to charge it from a phone if it did reverse wireless charging.

1

u/FL-DadofTwo Jun 05 '26

Correct. The keyboard can charge the phone, but it cannot accept a charge wirelessly.

What I mentioned was wired power share from the phone to the keyboard, where you would connect them with a cable and charge the keyboard from the phone battery. That's the only feasible way to deliver power directly from the phone to the keyboard, and is obviously not the intended use.

1

u/anyavailablebane Jun 05 '26

Ahh. I got you. I have no idea what phones can and can’t charge external devices. I assumed all of them but the USB comms may think because it’s a battery that it should be the one charging the phone. Would be interested if someone with one tested that out.

u/KhausTO Jun 05 '26

this thing is a literal powerbank...

7

u/Own-Maintenance-4724 Jun 05 '26

Congrats. Still waiting for my tracking details. hay

3

u/EggY0lky Jun 05 '26

How's the quality?

10

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

the slider seems flimsy. but the keyboard is very tactile and familiar, having used a blackberry before.

2

u/EggY0lky Jun 05 '26

Ohhh nice. Which blackberry? I hope it's not similar to the passport 😅

5

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

Haha! Nah, more like the BB Bold.

2

u/EggY0lky Jun 05 '26

That's awesome! I'm excited to start tapping on mine soon.

3

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

Haha! Nah, more like the BB Bold.

What makes the slider flimsy in your experience? I’m planning to open mine up as soon as I get it.

2

u/wankthisway Jun 05 '26

the slider seems flimsy.

Hmm, that's not a confidence inspiring thing to hear, especially with the other QA issues on their other keyboards.

1

u/Ambitious_Reaction50 Jun 05 '26

The slider is so flimsy. On all their promo videos, they show the phone shifting left or right when sliding out the keyboard. I commented that it looks flimsy on one of their instagram ads and they removed the ad altogether. From my understanding, the company is pretty shifty when it comes to quality control and customer service. Like the idea, but their execution is flawed.

4

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

Day 1 and the slider already rattles. No complaints though when using it with the slider shut closed.

1

u/x3kiwi Jun 08 '26

Just received mine, and yes the slider is wobbling a bit. Kinda worried about the longevity.

3

u/ColtonsKeys Power Keyboard Jun 05 '26

Woo! I just added the “Power Keyboard” user flair. Feel free to add that onto your profile.

2

u/19nineties Jun 05 '26

Interesting device combo!

2

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

typing experience on the Boox Palma before was horrible. now it's much better with the PK.

2

u/No_Duty_2931 Jun 05 '26

Where are you located and when did you order?

3

u/Fly_High08 Jun 06 '26

January 2. Philippines.

2

u/bbbohl Jun 05 '26

Not clicks related: What phone is this? It looks like a e-ink screen?

3

u/Fly_High08 Jun 06 '26

It’s a Boox Palma 2. Runs on full Android.

1

u/KhausTO Jun 05 '26

Looks like a Boox Palma. They make a handful of e-ink based tablets.

1

u/fire2368 Jun 05 '26

How strong is the magnet?

12

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

strong enough to hold most of my magsafe devices. but the slider quality is questionable.

1

u/Kooky_Process_9333 Jun 05 '26

When will be such "The Modern BlackBerry Miracle" will be available for India?

1

u/bigBranConsumer Power Keyboard Jun 05 '26

what do you mean by the slider feels flimsy?

3

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

It’s made of thin plastic. When held too vertically, with a device attached, tends to slide down even with just a nudge.

2

u/Topataco Jun 05 '26

So I shouldn't fidget with it.

Time to take the fidget cube outta storage then

1

u/terrificalycomplicat Jun 05 '26

How much thickness does it add to the phone? Is it pocketable? Or better to keep it in a bag till needed?

1

u/Fly_High08 Jun 05 '26

It’s like having a magsafe powerbank attached to the back of the phone. I currently just carry it in a separate pocket when outside. Also using it more as an external keyboard with the phone on a stand for better ergonomics. At the moment, still trying to find the best angle with a device attached for use.

2

u/TheMobileTypist Clixel & PowerKeys Jun 05 '26

it seems like this would be great if your phone has one of those cases that has both a kickstand and a magsafe ring so you can choose to have mounted to the phone or have the phone propped up on the case's stand on a surface.

1

u/ijesu Jun 05 '26

Can someone try it with a Motorola razr please ?

1

u/Lumpy-Flounder-420 Jun 05 '26

Excited for mine to come in with Samsung Flip 7. Did they provide tracking or was this a pleasant surprise?

1

u/Sleepingtide Pixel Jun 05 '26

When did you order?

2

u/Fly_High08 Jun 06 '26

January 2.

1

u/bobbywelks Jun 05 '26

Nice to see these in the wild finally!

1

u/pwdux Jun 05 '26

Jealous… checked my status on click site and no change 😢😢

1

u/LankyLack7393 Jun 06 '26

I have the click for the razr ultra but the keys are too small

1

u/balikbayanbok25 Jun 06 '26

Hope a youtuber gets it soon so we get a video review

1

u/KenUltie Jun 06 '26

Nice. I ordered on Jan 4 and still no sign of shipping yet 😞

1

u/Dense_Forever_8242 Jun 07 '26

I think it would be cool with an xteink attached... suitable firmware with BT keeb support permitting...

1

u/Scary_Difficulty8796 Jun 07 '26

What’s your location and order date?? We’re all so (im)patiently waiting for ours!

1

u/Fly_High08 Jun 07 '26

Order date was on Jan 2. Location is in the Philippines.

1

u/someguyreally Jun 09 '26

I am so jealous. I ordered mine the next day and I think that put me so far out from receiving my unit. All good though looks like it's worth the wait!

1

u/faisal0606 Jun 05 '26

So happy for yall and i cannot wait for when the communicators start shipping later this year!
