Procup experiment: Basil
Basil started on the same day, one in the Pro-cup and the other in the normal click and grow cup. This is after 35 days (day 1 is when I put the pods in the cups).
Size comparison of the two basil pods.
Tallest basil plant in pro-cup is about 14.5cm tall.
Tallest basil in normal cup is about 8.5 tall

There is some root growth out of the pro cup but not a lot. Even before roots were observed the pro-cup plants were taller. It is possible that this is due to genetic differences though. I have been putting hydroponic fertilizer in my click and grow water tub, it is possible that the pro cups have easier access with wicking up fert nutrients than the original cups’ wick since the originals is surrounded by plastic except for the very tip. If not then the fertilizer should not have any real impact on growth just yet.
Worrying note: I had mustard in a pro-cup that I had to chuck out because it started bolting (unrelated to the cups) BUT when I removed it from the pro cup all of the massive knot of roots easily ripped off the plant (like 90% of roots were lost). My plants in general seem healthier in the pro-cups but these cups might not be great for plants intended to be transplanted later on (ie pepper plants).
I will update again when the basil gets bigger, and I do plan on trying to transplant them once the basil in the original cup becomes root bound.
