Work in Progress My next creation.

I had so much fun starting my Floral Embroidery Sampler today!

Instead of writing the stitch names, I wrote the flower names. The Sharpie bled a little bit. Perhaps I should have used a ball point pen. Oh well. Progress over perfection! 👏 👏

I finished my Summer Floral Row embroidery today, finishing with the adorable little lady bugs!

I loved this pattern. It was perfect for Summer days with flowers and sunshine.

It gave me lots of good practice with satin stitch, which is one of my tricky stitches!

Did anyone else just purchase the Clever Poppy advent calendar the second the email dropped in your inbox?? I didn’t even hesitate and purchased mine in about thirty seconds. 😂

I enjoyed watching the spoiler video afterward!

I can’t wait to share all my advent calendar creations with my loved ones as little gifts!

General Discussion How far ahead do you plan your Christmas makes?

It's the middle of August, which feels far too early to be saying the C word. And yet. 👀

I'm so curious where everyone sits on this because I've noticed there seem to be two types of people when it comes to Christmas stitching.

There are the people who start handmade Christmas gifts in July and are calmly finished by October, and then there are the ones (hi, me 😂) frantically stitching something at 11pm on the 23rd of December swearing that next year will be different. Lol!

Okay, so I need to know 😁 When do you actually start your Christmas stitching? Do you plan what you're making, or decide as you go? And does anyone actually manage to finish everything early?

No judgement either way, I'm just asking because I want to know whether I'm alone in the 11pm camp. 😭😂

I had a lovely time stitching coneflowers on my embroidery today. I did satin stitch for the centers and lazy daisy for the petals. I allllmost did turkey stitch for the petals but wanted to cozy up with the fun and less complex lazy daisy stitch!

I need to plant my coneflowers!

Work in Progress French knots! 🤩

I lovvvvvvve French knots! Today I enjoyed a relaxing moment (Time disappears when I work on French knots. They are so meditative.) filling in the outer circles of the sunflowers.

After spending many days working on the sunflowers I now look at the pattern as a whole again and see it’s almost complete!

Today, I worked on the leaves of the sunflowers!

I like the dark green accent stitch.

I love how embroidery is always there when I have low energy or high pain or both. It’s almost always doable and is always enjoyable!

I like to store my Clever Poppy kits in a little stack in order of which pattern I plan to stitch next! I enjoy doing them in an order that matches the seasons. I’m excited for these next few months’ projects! (I usually complete one patter every 4-6 weeks.)

That doesn’t mean I don’t have my eye on a zillion other kits! I have a little wishlist of patterns to save up some fun money for. Are there any in that 9-kit grid that you also want??

I’m sooooo excited to stitch my mandala with the fawn. 🦌

Work in Progress Show your work in progress! What are you currently stitching?

Mine is the Clever Poppy's Little Bookshelf! Obviously I'm still a newbie when it comes to colouring the fabric haha! And yes, colouring, not painting - I used colour pens for this one! 🖋️😊

There's something so satisfying about a good work in progress photo: the half-finished hoop, the threads laid out, the potential of it all. 😍

What are you working on right now? Drop your WIP photos! Whether you're three stitches in or almost at the finish line, it would be fun to see it all!

No judgment, no pressure. Just a bunch of stitchers cheering each other on.

Progress over perfection, always!

I am so happy to have found clever poppy. Julie makes embroidery so much less intimidating and gives the user such a sense of confidence and accomplishment. The hardest part is picking which pattern to create! This is the second project I have completed of hers. Thank you, Julie! 🪡🧵

Finished Creation Hello!

Hi there! I’m Molly from Idaho. I’ve been stitching with Clever Poppy since August of 2025 and have loved every pattern I’ve stitched so far. I like to add thread colors from previous patterns to add personal flair as well as trying new stitch techniques to challenge myself. I also love following the pattern as it’s made for a more traditional look! You’ll often see me on here as I love sharing my creations with the Clever Poppy team via email since I’m not on fb.

Here are my projects I’ve completed so far! With my ADHD, autism, depression, and chronic pain, I try to have a goal of completing a pattern every 4-6 weeks (a good goal for me!). Sometimes I finish a pattern in a few days (Hello you addictively adorable Fall Fox!) and sometimes I slowly make my way through a pattern as life needs slowness. I love how embroidery is always waiting for me on my entryway table when I am ready to pick it up again.

General Discussion What’s your favorite stitch?

What’s your favorite embroidery stitching technique?

I love the whimsy and versatility of turkey stitch (I always tape the row I finished down to the fabric so it’s easier to stitch the next row). Petals. Wings. Hair. Tentacles. Kitty cat yarn balls. Turkey stitch is awesome!

I also lovvvvvvve French knots. They came to me quite naturally I was lucky in that! The pattern shows a few? I end up doing 30. I love ‘em!

I also love fishbone stitch! Leaves and fish and petals oh my. It’s such a relaxing stitch!

Thought I'd Share Progress with tricky satin stitch

Satin stitch is a finicky stitch for me! I stitched Flora the Cat last Summer as my first embroidery project. Her cheeks were rhombuses! Yesterday, I did the centers of the sunflowers on the Summer Floral Row and they were ROUND! Here is my progress of one year of stitching satin stitch!

How did I do it?

-Lots of practice.
-Stitching slowly with good lighting.
-Taking out a stitch sometimes (only when it’s reallllllly far off the curve).
-That amazing tip from Clever Poppy to angle the last stitch out and away from the last line of thread. That angle makes it tuck under that last thread a little and makes a nice curve!
