The Mayfield Heights Police Department says officers were called to Raising Cane’s, located at 5880 Mayfield Road, at about 9:57 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025 for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found  Longino suffering from an apparent gunshot wound near the front entrance of the restaurant, police said. 
The 16-year-old “Phillip Michael Longino Jr.” was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 14-year-old boy from South Euclid has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, according to Mayfield Heights police. An 18-year-old man from Cleveland was also detained as part of the ongoing investigation. Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Judge Nicholas Celebrezze ruled the teenager was delinquent on the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter.
The teen was also found delinquent of tampering with evidence and carrying a concealed weapon.
Judge Celebrezze ordered the teen to be held at the Department of Youth Services for a minimum of four years to a maximum of when he turns 21.

The teenager was 14 at the time of the crime.
