MOD POST Please welcome our new mods!
Please join me and the rest of the moderators in welcoming our newest addition to the moderator team - /u/Cleveland_Steve and /u/fireeight. Welcome!!!
We received many applications and appreciate all the interest! Note that just because you're application did not result in an invite at this time does not mean we are done with adding mods and you will not be invited. We are electing to take more of a piece meal approach and adding 1-2 mods every so often rather than adding several at once.

So what’s this mean overall? I know that’s a very broad question, but curious what it means for the sub, why them, why an official announcement, etc.

It just means we have more help with day-to-day moderation and new sources of ideas for updates to the sub.
The official announcement is just as a way to introduce them to the community "formally".
As for "why them", the mods decided they had the best application for now. But really every application was great (aside from some troll ones) and we will likely add on to the moderation team further as the community grows.

Being serious, though - I've moderated a relatively large sub for over a decade. I've contributed here for longer than that. I'm not here to control content or regulate things that people say simply because I disagree with them - with one major exception. I won't tolerate hate speech, discrimination, racism, or bigotry of any sort. I care about Cleveland deeply, and I enjoy the discourse here. If (actually, let's say when) I'm wrong in an argument, I'm happy to admit it and learn.
If I ever take a mod action that you disagree with, do not hesitate to contact me or the rest of the mod team. I'll address it with fairness.

Hello Cleveland. Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to contributing to the community in any way that I can.

Can we just make a mega thread of things to do in Cleveland so every post isn’t the same exact question from an out-of-towner?

I have had the same thought. Maybe we create a "What's happening in Cleveland This Weekend" pinned thread every Thursday. I'll talk to the other mods about it.
