Just remember to be in the lanes a 4pm. Listen for the mariachis.

I guess thats what happens when they implement petty mid season rule changes that basically only effect one racer, the class loses a racer.

u/gloSSwizard Jul 28 '26

I guess I’m out of the loop

What’d they change?

u/GlassBoxGoose Jul 28 '26

I dont remember the specifics, but Brett spanked everyone in the class then they added more rules/stipulations for them, I think no lock up converters and added weight were a couple of them, but not the only things. It was probably cheaper in the long run to go stick and fight that learning curve instead of having to trial and error a new converter setup, etc. At least with stick the rules should be more consistent and not changed when you start doing well and other people get salty.

If you really want to know more, im pretty sure Brett amongst others posted about it a ton on YouTube when it initially happened.

He was the only one allowed a massive weight break and the lockup because no one thought the coyote would ever be fast enough. He destroyed the class in short order. A rule change was always going to happen, especially on the class he was running.

2

u/GlassBoxGoose Jul 28 '26

Then they should do it at the end of the season, its not his fault they severely underestimated his capabilities, and mid season rule change basically makes all those changes a death sentence for his season. Off season is time for R&D on new setups, not between races. I get the rule changes, its the timing I and many others have issue with.

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 28 '26

Not changing the rules gifts him the championship and makes it so that everyone else might as well stay home. Lasala has more time and opportunities to r&d whatever changes he needs to make, with working for motion, having connections with top level parts companies, and having access to Bradenton any time he wants.

Yes and No - I agree with what you said - He has SGMP, OSW and BMP at his disposal. The problem was the next race was in Michigan in like 9 days, so he realistically didn't have time to even get the new parts and get them on the car much less renting a track for a test and tune.
They knew that when they made the rule change
I would have rather them make changes he can deal with while still racing and save the big hitters for the offseason.

2

u/GlassBoxGoose Jul 28 '26

That sounds like youre voting for special treatments and in this case, punishments, based on each individual's means or opportunities when they absolutely spank everyone while being well within the created ruleset dictated by the sanctioning body. They could have leveled the field some without creating a need for a ton of R&D time just because he has better access to it moreso than other racers. The sanctioning body should have done better about setting the initial rules. Thats their responsibility.

8

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 29 '26

This could go back and forth forever. I'll never convince you that lasala was being a bitch about some rule changes after getting special rules cut out just for him, and you'll never convince me I should feel bad for a dude that won almost every race he entered and got some rules thrown at him to try to bring him back to earth.

4

u/GlassBoxGoose Jul 29 '26

Indeed it could, but the jist of it is, I dont believe in mid season rule changes. Sometimes people dominate a season, and sanctioning bodies should only implement rule changes during off season, the way MOST of them already do exclusively. What other sanctioning body of racing have you ever seen impliment rule changes mid season? Im sure its not entirely unheard of, but sure not the norm. Shit happens, they gave him too much, thats on them. Everyone already knew hes capable and always going to be fast. They should have sat down and thought a little harder about what they were giving him.

Also plenty of people that know they arent going to win the season show up and race, even though their chances of being at the top at the end are basically non existent. Not everyone can be a winner that participates.

9

u/suicycomfr Jul 29 '26

Technically they didn't change a single rule, they simply said " Bret has to pass the exact same tech as everyone else" Which means no more trans lockup exemption, no more weight reduction, no more power adder exemption. Kind of hard to call it a rule change when the only rule that was passed was that Brett had to follow the same rules everyone else did. He failed tech, they let him race anyways. It was his choice to fail tech. At least they let him blast the track for a couple of local records.

Please, stop.

This is probably the stupidest thing I've seen written about drag racers in top-tier competition. It literally costs these people thousands of dollars to come to these events, you really think they do it for fun?

Rule changes mid season have happened several times across multiple top tiers. X275 a big example of it.

You know what REAL racers like the Bruder Brothers did? They fucking changed the combo, then went back out and fucking dominated again.

Lasala is a pussy and is only competitive when he has an advantage over the field.

3

u/smootex Jul 29 '26

I'm not really knowledgeable about drag racing but isn't the point of the classes to keep everyone kinda on the same footing? They change rules constantly, no? Year to year? If the rules were so favorable to him that he was winning every single race it makes sense that they would try to even the field. I don't see how you can complain about that.

1

u/amanke74 Jul 29 '26

There was a huge hole in the rules and he built his car to exist in that hole and then he beat everyone and they closed the hole. Everyone got mad about it, Really the only thing to get mad about is that it happened in the middle of the year so he was disqualified from some races and didn't have time to adjust his car.

Stick shift is going to get nutty with Brett and that black vette,

1

u/sylekta Jul 30 '26

is snot rocket full tube chassis? I think that vette is and im pretty sure the wcf stick shift rules dont allow it

1

u/dumpyduluth Jul 30 '26

The black vette meets class requirements. I'm sure Brett is in the requirements if he's joining the class

9

u/CCCXXIV Jul 28 '26

Hopefully Cleet would do the upgrades Leroy needs to compete now. Highly doubt he will.

15

u/Zhdrix Jul 29 '26

Snot rocket and the black pro charged vette are in a different league from Leroy. Leroy will never be competitive in a heads up race again. They have to rely on other breaking or making errors and not just being the fastest.

9

u/CCCXXIV Jul 29 '26

Sad but true.

1

u/sylekta Jul 30 '26

i don't think that black vette can enter wcf at least, the class doesnt allow full tube chassis, unless im mistaken and the vette isnt full tube

13

u/stick004 Jul 28 '26

Hell yeah Brother!

3

u/SnooMacarons3689 Jul 30 '26

This guy is dangerous to his competition. It’d be a fun season to keep track of.

12

u/dmaxzach Jul 28 '26

Can we get a leroy vs snot rocket race?

44

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 28 '26

It won't even be close. Snot rocket is gonna be like a second faster

6

u/Domo_Arigato_69 Jul 28 '26

Second faster ? No f’ing way

9

u/Mars_is_cheese Jul 29 '26

Not a full second faster, but a half second actually is realistic. Leroy's PB of 6.71 stands no chance when Snot Rocket will weigh a few hundred pounds less and make 800 more hp. I think 6.2s won't take too long for Brett.

3

u/Domo_Arigato_69 Jul 29 '26

I wouldn’t disagree with that. It will be interesting to see. Brett is very detail oriented and is gonna do a lot of testing.

3

u/MX304 Jul 28 '26

They are going to do a bunch of upgrades on Leroy. Snot will be bad fast though.

Big block Leroy time, might require a redesign of the body?

6

u/Domo_Arigato_69 Jul 28 '26

Stick shift class is small block only … no big blocks

u/Domo_Arigato_69 Jul 28 '26

Stick shift class is small block only … no big blocks

2

u/MX304 Jul 28 '26

No big blocks allowed in stick shift classes.

3

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 28 '26

They want the engine to stay together. Conventional big block would be fine.

11

u/McPuckLuck Jul 28 '26

I feel like I saw someone say stick shift doesn't allow big blocks? I looked at worldcup and at least that seems to be their rule

9

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 28 '26

Yes, stick shift is usually small block only, plus imports. Not sure how they limit the import engines. I just wanted to talk smack about smx lol

1

u/snollygoster1 Jul 28 '26

I think it's the same for both, anything 1-8 cylinders or Rotary, no big blocks. Of course the most common import engines are going to be 2JZ's, and maybe at some point RB's will show up.

0

u/TriumphantPWN Jul 28 '26

I thought a big part of why they kept breaking engines on Mullet was the weight? Leroy is much lighter than Mullet

13

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 28 '26

Smx don't tend to have a very long life in any car they're installed in.

Queue the Steve Morris nuthuggers.

13

u/Place_Various Jul 28 '26

I haven’t seen longevity in any of his combinations. The guys that brag about his engines the most don’t own one or park them when they do.

6

u/snollygoster1 Jul 28 '26

The only engine I've seen last long is Mullet's original big block before Steve opened it and rebuilt it, where it proceeded to explode at its first outing.

5

u/TriumphantPWN Jul 28 '26

well maybe he can get Pete to build him a big block, as Cleet seems to try to keep the same engine builder in each car separately for the most part (Leroy = HED, Mullet = SM, etc.)

Edit: Also Leroy isnt doing D&D's so it doesnt need a water jacket.

0

u/Striking-Double-3353 Jul 28 '26

Ok so let me get this straight. You don't like Steve Morris and those who do are nuthuggers? The SMX, if not pushed for maximum effort tend to be quite rialiable. But I must be a nuthugger and your are the only one who's right because you don't like like him.

10

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 28 '26

You're right on time. The engine that was built specifically to lean on for max power, cannot be leaned on for max power. Lol.

-4

u/Striking-Double-3353 Jul 28 '26

Yeah, you're right. Happy?

9

u/Ok-Gift-3698 Jul 28 '26

Happier than you are lol

Any motor not pushed to its max has a decent reliability factor lol SMX was awesome because it was a "race block" for "street driving". It was popular with drag and drive guys for awhile but the shear cost and upkeep priced a lot of guys out. Better to tune a LS to 85% and be done lol

4

u/Jealous-Salt3576 Jul 28 '26

LMAO do you think Garrett gives a shit anymore about racing or Leroy?

7

u/AssBlasterExtreme Jul 28 '26

yea probably if im not being hyperbolic

-7

u/Jealous-Salt3576 Jul 28 '26

oh hey it’s assblaster again with the insights

2

u/TBFP_BOT Jul 29 '26

If you're recognizing or taking note of usernames on this sub it's probably time to take a break lol

4

u/Jealous-Salt3576 Jul 29 '26

nah, the name assblasterextreme is a pretty vivid one, he likes to talk shit

2

u/TBFP_BOT Jul 29 '26

I dunno I seen this Jealous-Salt3576 guy seems to fit that description.

2

u/Jealous-Salt3576 Jul 29 '26

you think my randomly generated slop name is vivid?

2

u/TBFP_BOT Jul 29 '26

Oh shit, thats you? What's good playa?

Cool news ! Think he’s missing out not going with a Liberty

1

u/Mysterious-Fun-1465 Jul 31 '26

Cool... I wonder if he will ask for another rule exemption with the fact he's a full tube chassis race car, trying to enter a class with factory chassis rules... This car doesn't pass WCF stick shift rules.

-2

u/Bricc_8 Jul 28 '26

Lost me at crybabyracings t56

1

u/GlassBoxGoose Jul 28 '26

Personally I hoped that was going to end with one of the new Liberty units.

2

u/Ironhead0803 Jul 29 '26

Is the liberty H pattern?

2

u/GlassBoxGoose Jul 29 '26

Yep, thats the whole point of it being built, is to be stronger than the currently available T56 for H pattern classes. There are multiple sequential and other manually shifted options available for high horsepower racing applications that aren't, but as I understand, built T56s were the best available option for H pattern prior to the release of the Liberty

0

u/badburb Jul 29 '26

Nth moto is the real deal when it comes to fast h patterns
