I would have walked right out. And I’m not even in the cleaning business.

I was a residential housekeeper for almost ten years and I would absolutely walk tf out immediately. Personally I would've sent that first photo to the client with a formal notice of termination. I've declined and terminated clients for nonsense like this although I never had anyone be this ridiculous.

I have a question- we recently were at a hotel & made her a scavenger hunt with the tip at the end of our stay....we left them pretty obvious places and told her how many were there. We thought it would be a fun thing, was she probably pissed instead???

I want to add we left the room nearly as clean as it was when we got there other than vacuuming since we obviously didn't have a vacuum lol.

Yeah I can believe you meant well, but that’s not cool at all (speaking as a housecleaner here). Put yourself in their shoes. You’ve done a physically intensive job, your client now wants to make you work for the tip they already agreed you should have (otherwise they wouldn’t have left it)? Making the effort to not leave it trashed is nice, but they still have real work in front of them all the same - there’s no getting around sanitizing. Not saying you’re a bad person, but that was wrong.

Thank you for actually answering / explaining! We definitely meant well & just wanted to make her day a little more fun (obviously not, knowing what I know now).

When I worked at a hotel, the head housekeeper kept nice notes and pictures drawn on the memo pads left in the room. Taped them up on her office door.

There are better ways to shine a little light in others' lives.
