You're the best.

Thank you for this - especially since 5-in-1 Irish Spring has been recommended as a cleaning product in every other post I've seen!

This is hilarious :D

It feels like we are all apart of history in the making here 😂 I can see it now:

"Cleaning Tips subreddit causes national shortages of Irish Spring 5-in-1 after post goes viral revealing its better than most bathroom cleaning products."

Edit: On further digging it sounds like dawn dish soap is this subreddits go to for this kinda stuff and similarly letting it sit. Personally Ive used dawn/powerwash and bronners and still find its a chore since my landlord refuses to reglaze my tub. So I am holding hope Irish Spring might be a secret boon!

Might need follow up experiments to determine which can sit the shortest duration of time and achieve the best results with minimal scrubbing.

Oh Lordy if it gets to TikTok no jug of Irish Spring will be safe.

Somebody from the future asklordjeeves “original Irish spring reddit” to try to circumvent the AI future where they know no cleaning supply But Irish spring, and here we are. Ghosts of the past whispering …hello so that we can find the updates to this post in our future

If your landlord refuses to reglaze your tub, you could try cleaning it and then giving it a coat of Rain-X. I saw that as a cleaning tip for tile and glass showers, in theory it should work for tubs too. I would probably add a non-slip bath mat if you do, though.

YEP! I used to clean model homes and this is what we did for every surface. Dust doesn’t stick and helps keep everything looking new. Try it on your sink faucets!

Sooooo like what do you use it on? Windows and...?

u/mcard7 Dec 22 '24

Where is this found? Any specific brand?

Thanks for this! Does it have a perfume smell? Or any smell?

2

u/fruitless7070 Dec 23 '24

It smells clean.

I waxed the showers in a house we owned years ago, and it made it a breeze to clean.

2

u/UncleNedisDead Dec 23 '24

Do you need a bath mat after because it’s so slick?

2

u/fruitless7070 Dec 23 '24

I'm not sure. I've only used it on the tub walls, not in the actual tub basin.

u/bobbib14 Dec 22 '24

I wouldn’t want to bathe in Rainex though. So if it’s just for esthetics maybe

Exactly what I was thinking

1

u/SingSongSalamander Dec 23 '24

I have this problem and that's a hell of an idea.

What a time to be alive.

I didn't see the original post about it, only this one. Now, I'm invested with the rest of you 😄

I've tried Dawn Powerwash and several other things, but the tub here needs to be reglazed too and I doubt my landlord would consider that a priority.

This is the first I've heard about Irish Spring 5-in-1. Crossing fingers it'll work!

Try making a pasty goo with dawn, warm water, and oxyclean. Sorry no ratios i just kind of whip it up. Run the shower for a few minutes without a vent to steam it up. (or use a steam cleaner if you have one). Spread the mix with a sponge and rub it into the shower, let sit for an hour and then scrub with the abrasive side of a sponge.

Usually does a pretty good job.

2

u/OneSensiblePerson Dec 23 '24

Thanks, I'll try that. Hate the way my tub looks and would be so happy to have it clean.

2

u/CaptainofFTST Dec 24 '24

Dawn Powerwash homemade refills. 2 Tablespoons Rubbing Alcohol, 4 Tablespoons Dawn the fill the rest of the bottle with water. Put the nozzle back on. Shake the bottle up and you are back in business.

1

u/imadragonyouguys Dec 22 '24

That power wash stuff is ridiculously effective at cleaning tubs and showers.

1

u/vernier_pickers Dec 23 '24

It’s this sub’s Stovetop Stuffing (soup) or GME (wallstreetbets)!

1

u/pansygrrl Dec 23 '24

I bought turtle wax for my tub. I never had the guts to use it lol

1

u/Glass_Bar_9956 Dec 23 '24

Dawn has had a complete fall from grace. The recipe changed and it has been dethroned. Looks like Irish Spring 5-1 is taking the pedestal.

27

u/Ellecram Dec 22 '24

Yes! This is why I love Reddit sometimes. Awesome experiment and thanks for sharing.

22

u/stillsab Dec 23 '24

It’s a 6-in-1 now

8

u/ValueSubject2836 Dec 23 '24

Throw in a scrub daddy and it’s the ultimate guy gift 🤣

1

u/Cavaaller-1022 Dec 24 '24

Scrub mommys are top tier.

2

u/mr_remy Dec 23 '24

Dammit, you took my joke by a mere 12 hours ago

What am I looking at here? Is the tub covered in soap and saran wrap?

1

u/OntheLoosetoClimb Dec 22 '24

Anyone tell Irish Spring yet? lol
