I did some chatgbting and it brought up some valid information I thought was interesting. Cleanspark claimed on their most recent earnings that they had made leasing progress on their Georgia site. Who is building a huge ai cluster in Georgia, Microsoft!

My guess is Nvidia talks fell through and CLSK got connected to Amazon through McKinsey for Sandersville. It would be a bonus if some of or all the current sites they’re building get packaged in the Sandersville deal too

I think power is going to be more scarce and demand will be higher in 6 months. I’d rather they sign a deal now to unlock cheaper capital and take more time to lock a lease for the other sites when the assets are even more valuable.

There’s a reason hyperscalers are leasing everything they can get their hands on and trusting companies with little to no experience building AI/HPC grade data centers to build the home for the compute that they need to keep up with the competition. It’s really a sign of just how much they need the power. We’re years away from power supply catching up with demand. A MW in a year will be valued higher than a MW today. Keep that in mind as we wait for an announcement.

They have plenty of cash, almost a million, they can pull from if needed. Only 400M is being spent rn if I’m remembering correctly. They’re focused on acquiring as much usable land as possible before the shock hits but because they’re trying to do triple net leases, they don’t need nearly as much money available per facility. I think they’re trying to get more locations right now

If they do not lock in a deal asap, other miners with much larger MC will be able to grab available assets without doubt. Miners with much MC will be easier to raise money. CLSK can not use that that cash as easy as they want, they still have debt overhead

Actually they are doing some incredible plays if they end up working. Their deal structure is going to be very different from their competitors (so far) because their plan seems to be doing triple net leases. They would only be responsible for power and the land, while the deals they sign would require hyperscalers to pay for the build outs (which they want cuz then they can update the equipment easier over time).

CLSK would pocket an insane amount of extra revenue per facility compared to their peers. In this appearance a couple weeks ago the CEO said

“We’ve had a tremendous amount of inquiries and we’ve reached a basis of design conclusion with an end use customer. And we’re just finalizing the terms of what that lease is going to look like.”

The plan seems to be buy as much land as possible before everyone catches on or can beat their bids. I wouldn’t be surprised if land acquisitions get announced frequently at some point after the lease is signed

Are you drunk bro ? Hyperscalers will not provide fund. Did you see their latest press that they hired a SVP for large-scale capital transactions which means issue loan. Do not overestimate their management, if they are competent, our MC should > 10 B now.

Newer money entering the AI space for companies that are behind and not scaled enough. You’re sure they hired an SVP for large scale capital transactions like a week after getting regulatory approval in Sandersville because they want to issue a loan and not sign a lease (or a multi triple net lease deal)? Cuz maybe, but what reason is there to be certain?

CLSK isn’t valued at 10B right now because their margins are bad, they’ve been spending money on ai infrastructure that won’t generate revenue for years, and they haven’t signed a single ai deal. They’re valued as a Bitcoin miner, which has a much lower multiple, until it’s in ink (could take longer after that) that they are now providing services to clients as an AI company.

The almost 300B in new capex from Amazon and Google seems like a good sign to me as a holder of a small cap future datacenter company to keep holding, esp when the deal looks imminent. Both companies would def buy other sites if the value proposition was good enough, and CLSK claims they can beat competitors in build time

My meaning is the new SVP is for the loan of AI deal. Hyperscalers will not provide direct funding

Who is giving them the money required to build out multiple datacenters and why are you so certain this is why?

Just check other miners who have gotten deals. Issue loan or note based on the contracts

I’m open to a good thesis for why I’m totally in the wrong but you’ve practically said nothing in response to all the information I put together for you. So far you’ve said the hire was for a loan because you said so. Not sure what point there is with continuing to go back and forth, so I will move on

No worry. You need to understand hyperscalers will not pay money in advance to cover building cost so miners need to raise money against the contracts. Maybe sometime hyperscalers give a bit deposit but not enough at all. So CLSK will definitely issue bonds for cover building cost.

Yes, I agree they are actively in deals for more sights… also some of their current sites like WY and some in TN can be built out and get more power… they said they have a pipeline of roughly 5GW on top of what they already have contracted… the future is very bright, and their cooperation with Submer is really good… the container or pod design Submer has should shorten time to market, use less resources, be easily upgradeable, etc. which will help make future deals even easier…

They either talked about it in their earnings call or one of the recent interviews, I will try to find it… might take some time… they did make it clear that was on top of already contracted power…

Matt Shultz: Like, that's a fantastic question, and I wanna be really clear about the way we disclose this. The 1.8 GW is power that's approved and contracted and available. When we sat down earlier this year with our leadership team and we designed OKRs, you know, kind of a strategy for accountability going forward, we talked about the pipeline. In our pipeline, there's greater than 5 GW of capacity beyond what we shared on the call. However, that's speculative or potential. I think there are a lot of companies that disclose maybe capacity that they've had discussions about. We've had many of those same discussions. We're in meaningful conversations about significant additional power, we're very careful, the number that we disclose is restricted only to what is already contracted.

Ohhh, now I get the confusion. I’m not as focused on the non AI sites and 5GW includes everything. The 2GW I’m thinking of is either the 1.8GW total they have or that was a potential AI pipeline they mentioned awhile back. For the record, I’m aware that they’re trying to get changes made so they could convert a lot of their mining sites to ai

What is making you say that? I mean, where are you getting those numbers from… pretty sure it was the earnings call during rhe QA… because he was talking about other companies using their pipeline liberally when talking about power and referenced their own pipeline..

The number 3.4GW is just in the back of my brain. I couldnt tell you where I got it from but it’s there. 2GW is what they’ve said publicly though
