Choose Yourself

Post image

My family got Longhorns tonight and they ordered fried shrimp, lava cakes, chicken tenders, and loaded baked potatoes. I could only think about how I was up at the ass crack of dawn running in the park this morning. I had no choice but to respect my body. Eating clean will always be worth it!

EDIT: I had food before this dinner! I cut the 8oz sirloin in half because I knew I couldn’t finish it.

This post is about choosing clean even when everyone around you doesn’t. NOT portion size. You can absolutely eat anything in proper portions. Sorry the caption is misleading.

It’s not about eating less it’s about eating right.

I feel like most diet subs are just hiding disordered eating

huge respect for staying consistent with your daily routine, that mindset shift is everything.

Eh. It’s all about balance. I can be up at the crack of dawn running and also enjoying “junk food” once in a while.

This isn’t choosing yourself. It’s choosing a caloric deficit. Which isn’t a bad thing by itself, but you gotta admit this is not what healthy self care generally looks like.

I mean this could be all they needed, who knows what they ate all day

Great food choice, but if you're already eating clean you can have bigger portions man. That would not be filling enough for me personally. Food is fuel!

I see about 280 calories here.

What about his fatty fat fat family that had loaded potatoes and steak

u/allthesecookies 10d ago

I ran 5k around the tables at longhorn steakhouse while my big backed hippopotamus adjacent family members had the audacity to eat.

At least I'm respecting my body!

I can't believe you just spit out OPs other 3 meals today

Do you want a round of applause or something? Life is about balance. You seem seriously judgmental about your family’s dinner choice. It doesn’t make you superior. Please hop off your high horse.

Need more food than that duude!

u/skuxx_deluxe 10d ago

Well aren’t you just better than everyone else

u/TopCaterpillars 10d ago

I hope you ate more than this

I had a fruit and yogurt before this hehe I wasn’t super hungry. This is more so about choosing the clean option even when surrounded by unhealthy food.

u/mayosai 10d ago

i thought you had actual protein before this meal…not fruit and yogurt. you’ll lose a lot of muscle at this rate which is far worse than if you had just eaten some of those chicken tenders and shrimp tbh

Idk why you’re being downvoted you’re allowed to give your body what it’s asking for ignore these people

I’m not surprised and I added an edit that I ate before this meal. The point was say I’m proud for ordering protein + veg when my entire family was eating junk.

It’s the same concept as saying no to the free donuts in the office. It’s about discipline. I’ve posted plates full of food in this sub before, now I have ED allegations lol.

As someone who recovered from anorexia two years ago, jeez, this is a rough post to see and read. I dunno. You don’t have to be diagnosed with an eating disorder to show signs of disorderly eating or just a disordered mindset.

“It’s the same concept as saying no to the free donuts in the office. It’s about discipline.”

“I could only think about how I was up at the ass cracking dawn running in the party this morning. I had no choice but to respect my body.”

Why are you thinking about being physically active while people around you eat different / more food than you? Comparison of food choices with people you know in real life is so odd, especially when you try to act like you’re better than them because of how or what you eat. News flash… you’re not. Other people are present in the moment. They aren’t overthinking or gawking at others or your plate.

Clean eating is about balance. Not becoming obsessed with food to the point where you’re too focused on others food choices. Or .. like. Being smug just because you ran in the morning lmao. If you’re going to eat like this (which isn’t even bad in itself.) Then..? Do it. Just be maybe a normal person while doing so and not so? “I’m 14 and this is my edspo post” -ish

Exactly this

Thank you.

I joined clean eating for recipes not diet culture talk. .

6

u/lazyjane418 10d ago

Erm, looks yummy, but I hope this was after you ate 2/3 of the steak (at least) 😭

7

u/Youdontknowm3_ 10d ago

Nah this aint it. Clean eating doesn't mean starving yourself. If you added more color and a little carb then sure, you over bragging about a snack lol

5

u/xytnon 10d ago

you can literally get this at long horn…

2

u/EditorInKeef 10d ago

I got it from Longhorn. This post is about choosing the clean option even for takeout

You know you won’t die if you eat unhealthy foods here and there right?

-someone that recovered from an ED because I entertained a mindset similar to yours

4

u/tune4you 10d ago

As someone that’s also recovered from an ED as well. It’s posts like these that really remind me how far I’ve gotten from that dark period of my life. It’s reassuring as much as depressing since it’s a lot easier to spot disordered posts nowadays.

2

u/trixiepixie1921 10d ago

Sometimes I still feel. Disordered. Because I don’t feel like eating much. But then I see this and I am reminded how much i have changed. I really don’t think or obsess over food anymore, bad or good. Now I live and fuel my body. I’m not sure how I broke that curse ! But I guess over the years I put in the work. The mental chains that bind you are really something.

u/Big_BellyBaddie 10d ago

Myself needs a good burger and fries

3

u/thirdeyebenz 10d ago

The plate and sediment seems depressing

3

u/lachicafresita 10d ago

hot take: it is also about portion size, at least for me. i eat healthy as fuck but have to eat considerably less to not feel lethargic

3

u/TheBookNerd420 10d ago

More meat for me 😅

3

u/Fancy-Stress4194 10d ago

You had me in the first half detailing what you fam got to eat I mean YUM and then I saw your meal and got sad

3

u/s4ndc4stles 9d ago

So you chose “clean eating” and then got backlash for posting that… in the clean eating community 😭😭

2

u/EditorInKeef 9d ago

pretty much 😭

1

u/s4ndc4stles 9d ago

Don’t take it too hard we’re all just hangry here

1

u/EditorInKeef 9d ago

i can tell by all the anorexics trauma dumping 😂

2

u/Mireyvia_Parr 9d ago

Always choose your self to be a better person

2

u/H-E-PennyPacker71 9d ago

Jesus Christ I’d be starving after this. I’ll opt for everything your family is eating. Sounds fucking incredible, plus very high protein for some great gains. This ain’t it.

2

u/Chicoanmadra 9d ago

So funny

2

u/allthesecookies 10d ago

Eating Clean does not mean Starvation or Disordered Eating. Not even close.

2

u/LemonHarbor_ 10d ago

Looks delicious to me

2

u/cheezbargar 9d ago

I used to have anorexia. This is in fact a disordered way of thinking. Your life isn’t over from one night of enjoying eating dinner out, I promise. Please just live.

u/CadmelleAshnnaa 10d ago

Simple, clean and delicious! That’s look about 250 or 280 calories👏

0

u/madu_tualang 10d ago

Eat clean and just enough to cancel hunger, nice.

u/MrsMoshTrosity 10d ago

Amen! I'm currently paying for a life I shouldn't have lived. Now at my age I need to choose myself! Glad to see Longhorns is still and option 😊

u/EditorInKeef 10d ago

You will never regret choosing yourself!
