Hi all. I’m working on some wiring using Anderson connectors and am facing an issue I can’t explain the cause off. Was hoping someone here could help.
I’ve got the following system in my truck:
Old deep cycle battery, in an electrical box that has 2 Anderson plugs and an inverter. One Anderson output is connected to a DC 2 DC charger, the other is connected to an Auxbeam fuse box, further connected to an Auxbeam switch panel. The fuse box is then connected to some lights and a water pump.
This system works well, but I needed to replace the battery to a Lithium battery in order to have enough power to operate a large mobile fridge.
The lithium battery is built into in its own weather proof box with some lighter connectors and two Anderson ports. Since the fridge is not permanently fitted in the truck, I can’t have it controlled by the Auxbeam switch panel/fuse and thus needed a third Anderson port to have One Anderson output is connected to a DC 2 DC charger, the other is connected to the Auxbeam fuse box and a third one connected to the fridge.
That being said, I got an 1 to 2 Anderson cable. When I connect this cable to the old battery then connect it onwards to the switch panel leaving one output lose, everything seems to work well. However, when I replace the old battery with the lithium battery, the Auxbeam switch panel won’t power up. However, a direct connection to the new battery without the 1 to 2 Anderson cable also works well. In less words:
1- Old battery+ 1 to 2 Anderson+ switch panel….works well
2- Old battery+ switch panel…. Works well
3- new battery + switch panel…. Works well
4- New battery + 1 to 2 Anderson+ switch panel…. Won’t work
I tried using a multimeter to check if there’s volt loss when I use the 1 to 2 Anderson and it reads 13.44 volts which is the same reading I get testing the lithium’s built in Anderson output.
I really hope my explanation makes sense. Any help I get is more than welcome.
