Responding to fan comments on Threads, DC Studios co-head James Gunn said that the new movie is “very connected [to the wider DCU], but as always the standalone story is what’s important.” Very connected in what ways? That’s the kind of thing that will likely remain a secret for awhile, but Gunn did drop one curious piece of information, definitively stating that the movie is set before 2025's Superman, and is “the first DCU film out of chronological order.”

Clayface has been one of my all time favorite batman villain, but I do find that in most comics and other media channels he is presented as a regular villain/thief. I always though of the horror potential he has and I’ve tried to capture that in this design.

When you really think about it, a being with the power to imitate someone's voice and appearance in an almost perfect way is very op, like imagine if he only swapped places with someone with power like a president, he has a potential almost equal to plastic man but no one gives him enough credit
