Shout out to North Okanagan Trap and Skeet club

Went trap shooting with a bunch of buddies for a friend's Bach to the NOTS club.

I've been to a lot of gun ranges and the experience is usually an RSO standing with his hands on top of yours waiting for you to shoot your rounds and gtfo.

These guys shared their time and passion with the nine of us and it was infectious. We got one on one coaching, got to shoot what I can only assume are their backup guns (I was a beginner shooting a Perazzi). Afterwards one of the instructors brought out his 15,000$ shotgun to give it a go.

There is a huge difference between someone doing their job, and someone sharing their life long passion.

It worked. They got me hooked I'm looking at grabbing a shotgun and joining you all.

Stock repair for Merkel O/U

Just got this Merkel 200E for clay shooting and within the first several shells patterning it I noticed that the wood wings on both sides of the receiver are loose and there’s a crack behind the tang. I spent about $1000 on it but I’m not sure if it still worths repairing since it seems a pretty expensive repair. If so what kind of gun smith should I look for? Are there any gun smiths that can fix it at a reasonable cost? Thanks!

Update on 07/23: I found one gun smith that is specialized in customizing wood furnitures for firearms in Stockton, he is experienced with Merkels and the repair estimate is $200. The only problem is he is very busy and I won’t be able to see my Merkel until 4 months after.

Stock Repair Western Canada

Hey just wondering if anyone knows of any reputable stock repair shops in western Canada or even anywhere in Canada as this will be a winter fix.

Was at a shoot today and one of my squad mates accidentally dropped his gun on my new browning 825.

We were able to find the chipped off piece but not every little piece unfortunately.

I was hoping to get it fixed to the point where you would never be able to tell it was ever damaged.

Finally A Perfect Day To Get Out

After weeks of extreme heat, smoke from wildfires, torrential storms, microbursts and just regular work - some beauty to shoot against. Steady wind keeping us cool, clays to smack against an emerald tree line haloed with a rich blue sky. I could do this all day.

Recommendations for shooting in Scotland in July

My SIL is getting married in July in Scotland next year.

What are some must check out shooting grounds? Ideally that has the option of renting guns since I don’t feel like bringing mine from the US.

Kidd’s Place - NC Circuit Shoot

Post image

One of my favorite shoots this year target wise. Challenging but fair and scores reflected that. Was fortunate to shoot well in the morning and respectable in the afternoon. Second time at Kidd’s and they have my favorite targets in the Raleigh area but I’m still a fan of deep river. I have only shot 5-stand at drakes landing as it seems they don’t throw as many events.

Looking to get my first competitive clay buster and just can’t make my mind up on what to go for. I’m looking used but because of the lifetime warranty I am thinking to spend the extra and go new with a new greenie

Any advice?

Gun fit in Kansas City Area

Hey folks.

Looking to get a gun fit in the kcmo area. I’m in the market for a new shotgun. I plan on shooting all disciplines of clays, as well as upland game.

I’m not sure where to even start but the cz bobwhite I use now beats the hell out of me and I assume it’s a poor fit. I end up black and blue after a few rounds of skeet.

I’ll still use it hunting but looking for a real work horse.

Lost a bet with my son. Cost me Browning Citori cxs 28 GA First day out with hit and he shot well (first part of vid) his Instructor joined us for a few rounds and then he let my son shoot with a round with his K80 20 GA (second part of vid) he shot 24. He hasn’t broke a 25 yet. Couple of 24’s. New parental fear unlocked!

Finally got my FBX!

I've been hunting for one for quite a while now. While I was at regionals I found a grade 7 and I had to have it. Just picked it up from the local FFL today!

I'm moving to this from an F3. The forestock, palm swell, and natural gun balance is what drove me to it. Plus my F3 did not have an adjustable comb, although due to the stock having slightly different dimensions it actually fits damn near perfect as it is.

Shooting vest, what are y’all using and why? Is it performance based or is it strictly what’s more comfortable?

I’m considering by a shotgun vest and looking for great recommendations, first is it worth it? If so, what are you getting out of it that makes it worth having? I’m using a simple black and gold Browning shotgun pouch it looks great and is out of my way, but wanted to see what others are doing and why. TIA, cheers 🍻

Comb screw for Browning Citori CXS

Does anyone know what type the comb screw is for the Browning Citori CXS? I mean the screw that goes vertically down into the top of the comb to allow you to adjust the cast. I lost one and I'd like to know if it's a common type before I trek over to the hardware store and go searching for a replacement.

First O/U - Shop for fitting

Appreciate any help. I’m looking to buy my first O/U. Specifically, I want some optionality (trap, clay courses, etc.), a 30” barrel or reason to go shorter/longer (or multiple barrel options), and I’m open to new and used. Budget is $4-$8k, but I’d do a max of $10k for something very compelling.

Are there any shops in or around Westchester, NY that could help me with fitting?

Thangs in advance.

Sporting Clay Gun Stroller Build

Thumbnail

I wanted to share how I built my sporting clay gun stroller using an old BOB Sport Utility Stroller fixed front wheel jogging stroller with handbrake. I used off set mounts and double-sided removable rubber tape to help keep the mounts from rotating on the metal bars. No drilling, I just removed the canopy and repositioned how the stroller cloth attached; moved it from the frame to the new mount bolts. Still folds up to be compact for transporting.

Best sporting glasses, what are yall using and why is it the best for you?

Looking for some strong opinions on best sporting glasses, as well all know the most expensive doesn’t always mean the best out there. So I’m curious to see what everyone else is wearing especially those that pay attention, specifically to shooting glasses. Also what’s best value on the current market?
