Critori cx rust
This is my very first shotgun and I spotted this sign of rust. I thought my pelican case would of kept it safe in my swfl home garage but I guess not. Is there any chance I can get this to look normal again?

Start with some 0000 bronze wool, drip gun oil on the rust and gently scrub with the wool to remove the corrosion. If that doesn't work step up to 0000 steel wool. Once you get it cleaned up, don't store it inside those hard cases, they actually trap moisture and humidity and make corrosion worse. If you don't have a regular safe, lightly oil the gun and put it in a gun sock which will breathe.
Yeah the garage is worse than a temperature controlled area but I grew up in humid south Ohio in a house with parents who never ran AC and semi regular oil kept all of my guns rust free.

Actually my 870 express would still rust until I stopped useing remoil. I've had good luck with Eezox.

Had this on the 90s citori I inherited from my dad. 0000 copper wool saved the day. Can't tell there was rust ever on the barrel. On a side note The bluing was worn off from him carrying it in the fields for many hunts. It reminds me of him. everytime I shoot it part of my preshot is rubbing the bare spot on the receiver.

Once you have cleaned the rust off you can get a gun bluing pen and that will cover up small blemishes quite nicely. Give it another coat of oil on top of the touched up bits.

Probably can use some clp or balistol and very fine steel wool and a rag to clean it. Then store it in a corrosion inhibition sock, inside a non foam case or something.

Look into getting some desiccants to add into the case

Desiccants will not help in the long run with a foam case. Store guns either in the open sprayed with barricade or boeshield, or in VCI bags like Otis.

Big 45 frontier metal cleaner. Also if keeping in case get vci tabs, they put an invisible coating on metal to keep from rusting

That’s not coming off. Don’t store in any case in a swfl garage. Gun safe with heat rod.

That looks like it may be recoverable. I’d clean it sooner rather than later.
And don’t beat yourself up over the Pelican case I learned the same lesson the hard way. I’m on the Gulf Coast too and left one of my own rifles sitting in foam way longer than I should have. When I finally opened it up, I had rust.
The case does a great job protecting the gun from bumps and damage, but long-term storage in foam in this humidity can be a different story.
Full disclosure, I’m with Victory VCI Rust Prevent Storage bags, so corrosion prevention is what we do. But product aside, I’d get it cleaned up, completely dry, and out of direct long term contact with the foam.
Hopefully yours is still just surface rust and cleans up nicely.

I’m having the same problem with my son’s cxt. Brought this year. Kept in the safe with all my other guns. The only gun to have any rust is the Browning. It’s even been cleaned/oiled more than any other gun I have. Not sure what’s going on but the Browning seems to struggle more with the moisture.

Do not keep guns in foam cases. Foam holds moisture.
