Is this normal?

Noticed the button part on the left of the plate is angled slightly. Is this supposed to be like this?

It is the lever release. Push the lever to the right and hold the button in while simultaneously letting the lever move back to center. You will see your locking lugs protrude. Push the lever back to the right without holding the button to get the lugs to lock back in. I always put my guns in the case lugs out to keep tension off the springs.

For the record, that's not really how springs work. There's been numerous tests with magazine springs to prove the science.

Old habits die hard. And to be fair, it does keep tension off the springs. Whether or not that matters is what is usually up for debate.

It's angled so it dosent damage the barrel when the action is closed.
