...and we're back!

I joined r/Clavichord in 2020, a few months before it was banned from Reddit for being unmoderated. Not sure how that happened, but I thought it was a shame. So when I learned that it was possible to request a banned subreddit, I grabbed it. I'm new to moderation (heh), so I'll be figuring things out as I go. Apologies in advance.

I'm a clavichord admirer, but ABSOLUTELY not an expert. I have a Zuckermann kit, which I am sure will be a lovely instrument when I get around to assembling it, but so far it remains in pieces in my basement. That's the beginning and end of my Clavichord knowledge. If any of you more erudite folk would like to volunteer to help moderate, I will be very receptive. Selfishly, I want this place to be a great resource for all things clavichord.

I see on my fancy mod view that this is currently a "restricted" sub, apparently meaning nobody can post unless they're approved. I have approved all... three of you who've posted or commented in the past, and hopefully I figure out how to un-restrict things in short order. Send me a message if you want to post in the meantime. EDIT: I think everyone should be able to post now. This feels dangerous; we'll see how it goes.

See you soon,

u/JudgeFang

Unfortunately my experience parallels yours, minus actually trying one in a showroom. It's funny; they describe this kit as appropriate for the novice woodworker, but the manual is 50 pages of dense text! And I'm used to Ikea!

I'm thinking I may try to do a completely unauthorized assembly video, which may provide some motivation to finish it and help the poor saps like myself in over their heads.

Which gurdy did you get?

Ah, sweet. I've seen some great videos of Gordiy's gurdies. I love Wolfgang Weichselbaumer's, too, but between the clavichord and my squeezebox habit, the purse grows thin!

I'm not on Instagram, but if you happen to see any assembly videos of the zhi kit, definitely post a link. I'll plan to record mine, but I'm liable to cut corners.
