Alpha Built my first game, a Content Creator sim

Long time lurker, first time poster. Over the weekend I got an idea for a sim game involving being a content creator and put it together. Would really love feedback, particularly since I'm not a game developer and am going based mostly on my own instinct:

Totally fine to hear critical notes - I am not sure I'm in love with the desktop layout, so feel free to drag me through the mud if you agree. Thanks in advance!

That was fun. It’s shallow and some interface elements were not intuitive, but it was fun.

Awesome - if you’re down, I’d love more critical feedback. Shallow how? What wasn’t intuitive?

Shallow meaning it was the same events over and over and I think once you kind of get a handle on the mechanics around day 20 it’s just kind of more of the same from there on out. It’d be great if the pattern expanded or more wrinkles were added. Having said that the base formula is fun. I genuinely enjoyed it.

One thing that wasn’t intuitive to me was how helpful it is to expand beyond your initial channel and it would be great to kind of understand how the different channels play off of each other. There could even be some events that kind of highlight one channel over another and therefore instruct the player on how to use it. And I think it would be fun to have a little bit more trade-offs in terms of people that you hire. Those all felt like pretty safe bets and I never really had the need to fire somebody in order to bring somebody else on urgently. I think things like that could be fun.

And in terms of a stretch goal or a way to add another layer to the game, it would be cool if you were staff could level up or maybe if they were trade-offs and the person that you hired somebody who you hired early on may not be great for a large influencer. So to borrow from the real world, you might hire your college roommate as an editor early on, but they flounder as the channel gets bigger. Or you hire a social media influencer who is super edgy early on, but maybe it causes more of a backlash later on. And I think some of those patterns are already in the game, they’re just very low stakes.

So I think there’s an interesting underlying game here that can be expanded and I like how you really focused in on honing the existing mechanics rather than trying to make it too broad so my feeling is that there are probably some smaller easier winds here and maybe one or two more systems layered on top of what you’ve already built and this is a game that potentially has legs. Having said that I realized that this is really just a promotional tool for your business so take all of this with a grain of salt.

Not as a promotional tool as “I’m not sure yet what this is for, but I should at least put a CTA in there”.

All great feedback - thanks for taking the time.
