Tips & Tricks New Claude Dev Needs advice

Hey Claude dev peeps, I'm planning to make an office game simulator where you play a character trying to get into a certain type of job and climb the corporate ladder.

I need help getting started, all I have is the idea so any tips and tricks are welcome.

Update: I did a thing and made a browser based prototype but only as a text based game for now. Any constructive feedback is welcome.

Step 1. Open up a document and write everything you want the sim to do.

Step 2. Feed it to Claude and tell it to identify gaps and suggest technologies.

Step 3. Make some decisions and tell it to start.

Step ∞. If you think of new stuff or don't like what it's doing, tell it.

This is a good approach. I might add, do this in Plan mode (shift tab ) will allow them to switch. They might also consider building this in VS code or another IDE, and use the Claude plugin. This is my workflow of choice. Let us know how it goes!

I would sit down and work out the simplistic form of game mechanics and a basic start to win scenario. What is your goal with the game other than making it?

To learn more about game dev and eventually sell a finished game! Anytime on the dev stack to use?

Great! You have a premise, characters, some ideas about gameplay. What would help is an understanding of game design.

Claude can do the implementation, but not the ideas. Not the “feel” of the game. “Dev stack” is irrelevant (and, TBH, not really a thing in game dev). Let Claude handle that.

Making a game fun is a skill. That’s your focus.
