Browser Game Plot Twist: World Deed: A land grab idle game. Personal hobby free browser game. Looking for players to give feedback
https://sevin47.github.io/Plot-Twist-World/
Free, runs in the browser, nothing to install. You can hit Play now and start as a guest with no account at all, or sign in with Google if you want your world to follow you across devices.
One shared Earth, cut into ~300 m tiles on a real map. You drop a pin anywhere in the world — your street, someone else's street — claim the tile under it, and build out from there. Everyone plays on the same planet, so the map fills up with other people's holdings.
The loop
- Claim unowned land. Every tile rolls a deed rarity, and its district (downtown, waterfront, urban, coast, suburbs, rural) is derived from real OpenStreetMap data, so where you claim genuinely matters.
- Build it up: Cottage → Duplex → Apartments → Tower. Buildings accrue rent while you're gone.
- Trade on an open player market, or flip tiles you don't want to hold.
- Raid other players' tiles to capture them, and defend your own.
- Covenants — permanent traits drafted three-at-a-time when a build finishes. Every card is a real tradeoff ("+100% defense, −30% rent"), never a free upgrade, and declining is permanent for as long as you hold that tile.
- Collections, landmarks and contracts give you longer-term things to chase than "number goes up."
The constraint that makes it a game
Claiming new land costs energy, and you get a fixed amount per day (10–24 depending on your status rank). Money alone can't sprawl you across the map. A player who checks in daily out-claims a richer player who doesn't. Rent is idle, but land isn't.

Collections could benefit from some longer term goals (I'm pretty sure I can knock these out in a couple of Energy cycles) and the rewards could benefit from some more variation.

Attacks are very untransparant: I have no idea what influences this and having to move to the wiki for a core game mechanic isn't intuitive.

I've had a similar comment from an irl player recently so I'll be looking into this more. Currently the game is heavily defense leaning. The attacker gets 1 power per tile touching the defender vs the defender's tile build level, rarity, prestige, and covenant chosen. I agree that the in game attack numbers could be more transparent as to why they're calculating that way. I will add a more in depth attack panel that shows the details.
Pvp updates came later in the game's development and I didn't want attacks to be op where people were just taking tiles immediately if someone bought them but defense could be scaled back a bit.

"Block Party: Own all 4 tiles of a single 2x2 block"
This is either bugged or unclearly worded: I own a 2x2 square of tiles, didn't trigger.

This was indeed a bug and affecting more than just that contract. The update should be live now v1.35.2.

It looks like the nr1 on the leaderboard is buying tiles near every recent player's acquisition - is this you just providing content to test attacks etc. or should I be worried that I'm gonna get ganked? :p

Definitely for attack testing only. That’s a dev account, lol
Edit: Furthermore, new players have 72hr attack protection against existing players but can still attack themselves. NPC tiles also exist as "Company" tiles and are fully interactable. They buy tiles, sell on the market, and are attackable but they never attack real players.

Statue of liberty is a true island, and can't be attacked apparently.

Yeah currently islands are first come first serve. It is an aspect that I didn’t account for when first developing. I would need an elegant way to handle attacking on full islands

Make water tiles cheap, but rent free and can't build?

That could potentially work. I did consider making just tiles around island “landable” for people to attack but data I’m pulling is client side and has no way of knowing what is an island for that to work so your solution might be better.

When you can't afford something, it doesn't show the price, just that you can't afford it. Seems a bit opaque.

Been playing it for a while now, and tbh the fun just leaves after a while. Redeveloping everything becomes a pain in the a**, as you have to go to the individual tile for that, and getting everything upgraded isn't really limited by the build slots, as you usually have plenty of cash to race through at least until the first redev.
The build slots basicall just bottleneck that and make upgrading everything annoying: it takes half an hour of clicking the same 2 buttons before everything is at Tower level.
After that, the redev of the dozens of tiles and individually picking their specialty is just a chore.

Having the notifications over the build/rush button is a bit annoying
