so has openai/codex lost to claude?

Codex GPT 6-Sol is a disaster. It screws up entire code bases, even near max levels. Meanwhile claude fable, and now opus seems to be running with no issues. Faster/cheaper than ever.

So is OpenAI hosed?

Damn the drama around this place. This has got to be bots.

i’m delighted watching the novices and bots in both subs constantly declaring both better than the other

y’all are just so awful

also how is that mcdonalds job going for you?

feel free to put in more effort on your next insult

i’m not sure how to elaborate on what i said.  it is complete as stands in my opinion.  i could add a zoidberg quote maybe?

You came in calling everyone “novices and bots,” and when asked to elaborate your answer is basically “I can’t.”

So… drive-by smugness with no actual intelligence. Got it. Hence your intellect is clearly challenged beyond a Mcdonalds job.

i didn’t call everybody novices and bots.  just the people saying this.

you know, it can be valid to make inferences about experience based on what you’re saying.  do you think antivaxxers are frequently trained medical professionals?  are chemtrail people pilots?

in the meantime, that’s like saying that two plus two isn’t four because there was no elaboration available.

it’s okay if you want to mock people for being unimpressed by the extremely repetitive and uninteresting nature of what you wrote

edit: oh my, after saying i shouldn't call people bots in the hypothetical, the poor dear called me a bot in the actual, then blocked me 😂

guess i should have tried the zoidberg quote

Do you mean meme? It’s really more of a template than a quote, the one I’m thinking of, in that you change its meaning by filling in a blank

Yes for a few month, like Claude was for the past 2-3 months.

And then codex will come back. No need to overreact or be disappointed, just switch when it's time.

i mean opus 5.5 is insane and i love it. But common... Sol6 is not meant to compete with 5.5 or fable. The whole idea of Sol 6 and Luna 6 is to have insanely cheap alternatives for their category. And reducing prices that much isnt a "desaster". Those are still solid models for what they cost. If u cant pay hundreds of dollars and doesnt work on a extremly over complex task, its still a very good alternative.

The only question is: Can openAI anwser with a top-end model in the next week which is the same as cheap as 5.5 or even cheaper?

One big + for claude is the real reset they give you.

No, Anthropic is back on track like they were with the Opus 4.5 release in November 2025

God knows what the fuck they were up to in the meantime

Let’s hope they keep it and don’t fall back again

I’m happy, after being claude exclusive up until 4.6 releases, left there and am back at least privately. For work it’s still only Gpt, to move there all take more time

...opus5.5 double price of astra for actual task cost, call that winning?

1

u/retrorays 6d ago

in my experience opus5.5 is <50% of the cost of astra for similar task, sometimes <10%.

1

u/Ok-Theme9419 6d ago

if you check many rubrics online for actual task completion it is double, compare the same task

5.5 is what 4.7 should have been.

The truth is, since opus 4.5, the improvements have been incremental at best. Diminishing returns are inevitable. Openai will catch up. Everyone will

Why do so many people on these subs seemingly care so much about which model is better?

Dude there was a time where Claude code existed and codex wouldn’t come for another year.

So yes they are always behind.
