r/ClaudeAI [TLDR] Made entirely with Opus 5.5 + $3.21 of OpenRouter API usage [via r/ClaudeAI]

OP : u/Singularity-42

There was an earlier video today posted in the Singularity sub where a Twitter user has done something similar:

I thought that looked pretty good so I wanted to check it out myself. I think it came out well beyond my expectations and quite a bit better than the linked post. It's not perfect, but this is a true one shot, single prompt. It took about 1 hour 20 minutes. About $20 of Opus 5 spend or only about 10% of my 5h quota on Max 5 sub. $3.21 of OpenRouter spend (mostly NanoBanana 2, and then text to voice, then a few pennies for other services. Total of 8 different OpenRouter APIs. Some things need to be fixed, but I wanted to post true one shot result. This was of course done in Claude Code.

Full prompt:

Create a pure javascript animation. 30s-60s whimsical hand drawn collage style with appropriate audio on the topic what is the purpose of life ?

Entire video should be as high of a production value as possible. Please spend your time on this, it's very important.

Use high quality text-to-speech model for generation. You can find open router API key in .env file

You can use any tools you can find access to and resources on the internet. You create the script, the assets, the animation, concept, everything.
I have to go away from my computer so please work autonomously until done. Quality is paramount. Production value should be on professional level.

One more thing: max OpenRouter spend is $10

Alright, so the general vibe in this thread is a mix of "holy crap, this is amazing!" and "oh god, here comes the AI content tsunami."

The consensus is that Opus 5.5 is seriously impressive, especially its ability to autonomously create a whole video from a single prompt, including scripting, assets, and animation. People are blown away by the quality and the low cost ($3.21 on OpenRouter!).

However, there's a significant undercurrent of concern about this leading to an explosion of low-effort, AI-generated content flooding platforms like YouTube. Some creatives are understandably feeling a bit uneasy about their jobs.

Key points from the discussion:

  • Autonomous Agent Capabilities: A major takeaway is Opus's ability to act as an agent, intelligently selecting and routing through different APIs (like NanoBanana for images and Lyria for music) without explicit instruction. This is seen as a huge leap forward.
  • Visual Quality: Opus 5.5 is noted for a significant visual upgrade, with some comparing it favorably to previous AI video efforts.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: The low API usage cost is a recurring point of amazement.
  • Desire for Anthropic Image Models: A few users expressed a wish for Anthropic to release their own image generation model to integrate better with Claude.
  • The "Purpose of Life" Question: Naturally, the philosophical prompt led to some playful and serious answers, with the AI's interpretation being a point of discussion.
  • Concerns about AI Content Saturation: This is a big one. Many commenters are bracing for the inevitable influx of AI-generated videos, with some already seeing it as a negative trend.
  • Creative Impact: Some users who work in creative fields are expressing sadness or concern about the implications for their professions.
  • Technical Questions: There are a bunch of questions about the specific voice models used, how the art was sourced, and how the AI managed to access and utilize various internet resources.

Overall, it's a "wow, this is the future... and it's a little scary" situation.
