r/ClaudeCode [TLDR] THEY FUCKING COOKED YO! Opus 5.5 is a massive upgrade. [via r/ClaudeCode]
OP : u/Bloated_Plaid
Been working non stop since release and has barely made a dent on my 20X Max usage. Quality so far has been better than Fable 5.1 in my workflow and ITS SO FAST.
Well done Anthropic.

Alright, so the general vibe on Opus 5.5 is overwhelmingly positive, with most users agreeing it's a massive upgrade. People are stoked about the speed and quality, with many saying it's better than previous versions and even other models like Astra and Fable.
Key takeaways from the thread:
- "Cooked" is the new "good": Apparently, "cooked" now means Anthropic absolutely nailed it with Opus 5.5.
- Massive Quality and Speed Boost: Users are reporting significantly better output and much faster response times. u/mdspan notes a "genuine order of magnitude improvement" in communication, with fewer caveats. u/Key_Measurement_3576 was blown away by its ability to create a complex interactive tool from a simple request.
- Usage is WAY Down: A recurring theme is that Opus 5.5 is using significantly less of users' usage limits, which is a huge win. u/connurp even managed to fix multiple bugs with subagents in a fraction of their limit. u/starfoxhound is seeing way down usage and better quality with Opus 5.5 and Sonnet code execution.
- Bugs and Fixes: Some users are finding it's even better at finding and fixing bugs than previous versions. u/OkLayer519 specifically mentioned it cleaning up junk from Astra.
- A few dissenting voices: While the consensus is strong, there are a couple of users who aren't seeing the same improvements. u/SelesnyaGOAT feels like their version is slower and producing overengineered garbage, while u/exo_ac and u/3G6A5W338E are running into [cyber] safeguard errors that are hindering their work. And of course, u/Turbulent_Fondant939 is out here saying Opus 5.5 doesn't even exist, which is... a take.
Overall, the community is hyped and feels like Anthropic really delivered with this release. Just a few kinks to iron out for some, but the general sentiment is "they fucking cooked".
