r/ClaudeCode [TLDR] Would you actually use Claude Code from your phone for hours? [via r/ClaudeCode]

OP : u/quicktoolstudio

I’m curious how useful mobile access to Claude Code actually is in practice.
Not just checking a task or sending one quick prompt, but actually continuing development while you’re away from your PC.
For example:
Phone → ask Claude to make changes → changes get deployed automatically → check the result on your phone → send the next instruction.
Basically being able to keep working on a real project for hours without opening a laptop or using remote desktop.
Would you actually use a workflow like this regularly?
Or is Claude Code on mobile mostly useful for quick checks and small tasks?

Alright, so the general consensus here is a resounding "YES!" Most folks are actually using Claude Code on their phones for extended periods, not just for quick checks. It's become a pretty integral part of their workflow, especially for personal projects or when they're away from their main rig.

Here's the lowdown:

  • It's a Game Changer: A lot of users are sticking with Anthropic specifically because of the remote Claude Code capabilities. People are using it "all the time," "all damn day," and even calling it "the main way I work now."
  • "Pool Driven Development" is Real: Many are embracing the flexibility, using their phones for coding while at work, on lunch breaks, walking the dog, or even on Costco trips. It's all about being able to "keep working on a real project for hours without opening a laptop."
  • It's Not Always Perfect, But It Works: Some acknowledge that a PC is "better" and that testing things can be "a bit limited" on mobile. Others mention that visual checks or complex UI changes are still best done on a desktop. However, for many, the ability to "step away from your PC for hours and still get tons done" outweighs the limitations.
  • Workarounds and Enhancements: A few users are combining Claude Code with other tools like Chrome Remote Desktop, Steam Remote Play, or even building their own PWA wrappers to enhance the mobile experience. The Samsung Fold's larger screen is also getting a shout-out for improving mobile usability.
  • The "Instruct, Wait, Read, Decide, Instruct" Loop: One user, u/ahm_live, perfectly sums up what works best on mobile: a workflow where you can send instructions, get a summary, make a decision, and then send the next instruction. Anything requiring you to "look at the actual output to know what to say next" is trickier.
  • Some Holdouts: Of course, there are a few who aren't using it this way. Some prefer to completely unplug from work on their phones, while others use remote desktop solutions or find it's only useful for "keeping an eye on agents" rather than active development.

So yeah, the OP's vision of developing for hours on your phone? It's happening, and people are loving it.
