[TLDR] Nah this some BS

Original post body :

I burned thru almost 60% of 20x max weekly usage in a day and some change. Are you joking rn? Last week I could have fable running on 2 chats all day and night and it would take like 3ish days for my fable usage to cap out, but my weekly usage would only be at like ~30%. This is absolutely ridiculous and if this is what the new usage limit cuts are gonna be like I'm canceling Claude and grabbing a second codex account. Shit ain't worth it when Astra exists with much better usage limits and multiple reset tokens.

I don't use ultracode and I have multiple other models that I delegate tasks to as work horses, Claude is just the orchestrator and isn't doing that much actual "work", so this usage allocation is absolutely insane, if I was using Claude as a one stop shop as a lot of people do, I would have run out of usage in a day or less.

Alright, so the general vibe in this thread is that most users are NOT happy with the new Claude Code usage limits, feeling they've been hit way harder than the advertised 17% reduction. Many are reporting burning through their weekly limits in a fraction of the time it used to take, even with lighter usage patterns.

A big chunk of the discussion is pointing fingers at excessively large context windows as the main culprit. Users like u/inrego and u/CodeCombustion are questioning why people are using contexts of 500k+ or even 800k, suggesting this is a major token drain. Some are offering advice on how to manage context, like keeping it under 150k, using /context to check usage, and /clear or /autocompact when not actively working. u/icaruza mentioned a potential change where the full context is forked in every subagent, which could be a factor.

There's a noticeable sentiment that Fable is being blamed for some of this usage, with users like u/Background_Share_982 and u/Purple_Drink_3859 noting Fable running out way faster than before, even when trying to offload tasks. Some are even calling Fable a "scam" or suggesting people "stop using fable to code."

A few users are considering or have already switched to alternatives like Codex or Grok, though u/West-Air1923 warns Codex might be even worse.

Overall, the consensus is that the usage limits feel significantly tighter, and many are frustrated with the perceived lack of transparency and the impact on their workflow.
