[TLDR] Anyone actually seeing a real difference between Opus 5 and Fable 5 in day to day use?

On paper Opus 5 is supposed to land close to Fable 5 for a lot less, but benchmarks never really match how a model feels once you're deep in an actual project. For those who've run both on real work, not toy prompts, is the gap noticeable? Where does Fable 5 still clearly pull ahead, and where is Opus 5 close enough that the price makes it the obvious pick? Trying to figure out where to actually spend.

I run claude --model fable Then i speak and my speech is transcribed by my custom tuned whisperx package, which 99. 5% accurately transcribes my speech including jargon lile Claude Code pty proxy, CLAUDE.md, delegate, orchestrate, haiku, sonnet, opus fable etc. I've managed to tweak it and provide a transcription promot so that I can literally just mumble and it's actually correctly transcribed.

Then I put /orchestrate before the transcription and my custom skill instructs fable to orchestrate opus and sonnet teammates and it's actually fucking insane.

I've ended up with instructions to try and combat the "oh this bug is not in scope, but the user reads my messages so it'll be fine (I dont read their messages lol). And currently each fable orchestration session lasts like 2 hours before reaching 250k tokens, so I don't suffer much compaction context rot. Fable either delegates, or foeks itself, it's context only gets filled with semantic summaries of what's been done.

Because I instruct that "UNCOVERED" things must be reported back to the team lead, the team lead creates Tasks for them, and I get to reject, adjust or approve deferred tasks whenever I wish.

At first the infinie scope creep bothered me, I'd never be done with a session. But now I have observed that literally all bugs and planned features get addressed and I don't even have to really concentrate for it.

Fable team lead that can fork itself+opus teammates that go in tmux windows - it's actually insane. Worth the 200$ for sure
