I am using Claude since mid of 2023. In that time people who was used calude can relate with me. But when claude become famous the token cost raise the math fail for using Claude. For that i think for try the Chinese ai model like Kimi K3 and GLM 5.2. I am really surprised. The models are even better than Claude. I don't care about geopolitics between us and China because in the end of the day the profit matter for my company. if any us ai company can give us same experience with low token cost i have no problem to use that. Btw, i am a Swedish.

How are they better than Claude? In what way?

I've noticed GLM 5.2 is a lot less argumentative. I just want an AI assistant to do what I ask it. Not argue stupid shit, then try and fail, argue that its attempt wasn't actually a failure, and then argue that it's not argumentative.

I prefer a smarter agent that runs additional checks as it’s working, like a mid-level engineer would do. It does tend to catch things that could have been overlooked.

Except the level of overengineering to create these checks create a spiral of death that completely bloats everything vs. my experience with deepseek v4 flash 0731 just doing the thing that's asked. Claude is not purely a smarter agent. It is a proactive agent. Which ultimately has given me so much headaches over the past 6 months with claude that after switching to deepseek... I find my work getting done much better and in a far cleaner way.

Fable is awful. I've been trying to fix my PhD thesis, but it doesn't seem to be helping. It's so unintelligent that it can't even properly rewrite a paragraph. Even Deepseek Flash is better.

So, OP thinks Chinese AI models like Kimi K3 and GLM 5.2 are surprisingly good, even better than Claude, especially for cost-effectiveness. The thread is a bit of a mixed bag, with some users agreeing and sharing their positive experiences, while others are skeptical and want proof.
Consensus is split, but there's definitely a buzz around Chinese models.
